Saturday Conversations

February 2014 summary

Back at the beginning of the new year, I listed my 2014 reading and blogging goals. I plan to post monthly updates on my goals as one of my Saturday Conversation posts near the end/beginning of each month.

  1. GoodReads Reading Challenge… 100 Books.
    In February 2014 I finished 8 books:
Book #07: Falling Light by Thea Harrison (February 1, 2014)
Book #08: Watch Me by Sasha White (February 2, 2014)
Book #09: Burn for Me by Cynthia Eden (February 5, 2014)
Book #10: Deep Deception by Cathy Pegau (February 10, 2014)
Book #11: The Problem with Promises by Leigh Evans (February 17, 2014)
Book #12: The Clockwork Wolf by Lynn Viehl (February 21, 2014)
Book #13: What a Woman Wants by Judi Fennell (February 24, 2014)
Book #14: Reaper’s Touch by Eleri Stone (February 27, 2014)If I want to finish 100 books by the end of the year, I need to read on average 8.33 books per month. After January, I was behind by 2.33 books, and although I read two more books in February than January, I’m behind by about 2.67 books. I was able to get in some extra reading while on vacation at the end of the month, but not enough to make up any ground on the overall goal.
  2. Reading books off of my TRB pile instead of picking up new-to-me authors and series.
I FAILED at this one during February. I didn’t read a single book from my TBR pile, and I did read four books from either new-to-me authors or new series. UGH!
  3. Featuring more GLBT authors and books on the blog.
In February, we featured two reviews in the GLBT genre. One m/m and one f/f. I’m glad we had a lesbian romance featured since there are not a lot of f/f reviews in mainstream romance.
  4. Spending more time reading and less time tweaking the blog.
I did pretty good with this since I did have over a week on vacation when I didn’t do any tweaking and relatively little blogging. And I did read nine books this month!
  5. Opening up Sunday Snippets to authors as a chance to spotlight his/her work.
We kept up hosting outside authors with two Snippets from non-reviewed books. I’ve also scheduled some coming up. But I do wish I worked on publicizing this feature more. That will be a goal for March.
  6. Continue Saturday Conversations Posts, but open them up.
I had a great post from fellow reviewer, Nima on treasured pearls and hidden treasures. I still need to find a way to open this up to others – bloggers, authors, etc. Any suggestions?

I’ve also been participating in the #BookBlogWalkers challenge hosted by Felicia The Geeky Blogger. I do weekly updates on this goal HERE, but I’ll also do monthly updates with my monthly goal updates.

My February went really well. I completed my goal of moving with purpose for at least 10 minutes every day and tracked all of my food using the LoseIt! app. My biggest wins this past month include: my pants are lose even with my belt tightened all the way and walking at least 2 miles every day while on vacation in Florida.

Coming up for March, I plan to increase my daily movement goal to a minimum of 15 minutes. I will also continue to track all of my food, and I even entered a LoseIt! challenge to track my calories for all 31 days in March.

So how did YOUR February go? Did you accomplish any goals? Did you set any new ones?

Thanks for stopping by to chat!

Good job, you didn’t do bad, considering your goals are ambitious. I am keeping up with review books, Sunday Snippets but am lagging behind. Haven’t touched my TBR pile yet, but I hope to soon!

    • Thanks Una! Someday you and I will both get to our TBRs!!
