Weekly Check-in August 1, 2014

Greetings my blogging and walking friends! It is time for your weekly check-in!

I am taking over hosting the weekly #bookblogwalkers check-ins for Felicia. She has been such an inspiration for me on my journey, and I am happy to help out and give back. For those who don’t know me, I am Jen Twimom aka @twimom227 on Twitter, and this is my book blog. You can read about my fitness journey on my #bookblogwalkers page. I post a weekly update every Monday, so please feel free to stop by there as well.

How are you doing this week? Did you make any new goals for yourself? Did you get in one day, two days, three days of walking (or other exercise)? Even getting up and moving for 10 minutes will make a difference! I am proud of each of you for making the decision to be a healthier you! Let me know how I can help!

My goal for August is to “move with purpose” for 30 minutes at least 5 days per week, with no more than 1 day off per week. These days my primary “movement” (aka exercise) is walking. This past week I met that goal (even though it was July!). I like when I can get in some longer, solo walks because that is when I listen to audiobooks. I’m currently listening to Spider’s Bite by Jennifer Estep.

    I’ve been pretty good since I got back from vacation. I’m hoping to stay healthy so I can keep it up. Good luck to everyone this month. Thanks, Jen, for taking some of the load of Felicia. I’m sure she appreciates it. I can’t believe the hours she’s working right now.

      Yea Melanie! We can do it together! I’ve been okay since my return from vacation almost 3 weeks ago, but I haven’t lost my gain while ON vacation… so I need to step it up! LOL.

    This was a pretty easy week for me – I walked my 2nd 1/2 marathon last weekend, so this was a recovery week for me. I still managed to walk most days with 2 rest days and even on those rest days, having dogs I still get moving!

    It’s so nice of you to take over the hosting duties for the month!

    Yay!!!! This week was okay. I didn’t walk/jog as much cause I kept getting a stitch in my side. I’m already feeling stronger thanks to my personal training sessions. Now I’m ready to see that scale move! I need to get back to clocking in the miles.

    I’ve been doing pretty good. My work scheduled changed this past week so I am trying to go to the gym after work. So far, I’ve done it. Not sure how long this new schedule will last, but it has been working.

    I was on vacation last week so I’m catching up on my posts. During my vacation I walked 60,397 steps but since coming back home on Monday I have been resting, unpacking and doing laundry. But I plan to start my exercise routine again today. It’s great you are helping Felicia with this post (I hope all is well with her). Have a great week!!

      thanks Kathy! 60K+ steps while on vacation?! That is a feat. I think I spend too much time relaxing on vacation to hit that kind of mark! Keep it up!

    Jen, great to see you hosting. Thanks. My goals are pretty much same as yours! However I do allow two rest days. Sometimes my teaching week tires me out and I just need those 2 days. Wishing you every success in your walking.

      Thanks Kathryn and same to you! Now that I’m walking longer distances, I have been tempted to have two days off… but so far I am able to make it 6 of the 7 days. Hope to keep it that way!

      Ugh! I hear you. I’m off for the summer right now, as are the kids, so I have a lot of flexibility. I know you can do it, tho!! Keep it up!
