Weekly Check-in August 22, 2014

Greetings my blogging and walking friends! It is time for your weekly check-in!

I am taking over hosting the weekly #bookblogwalkers check-ins in August for Felicia. She has been such an inspiration for me on my journey, and I am happy to help out and give back. For those who don’t know me, I am Jen Twimom aka @twimom227 on Twitter, and this is my book blog. You can read about my fitness journey on my #bookblogwalkers page. I post a weekly update every Monday, so please feel free to stop by there as well.

How are you doing this week? Did you make any new goals for yourself? Did you get in one day, two days, three days of walking (or other exercise)? Even getting up and moving for 10 minutes will make a difference! I am proud of each of you for making the decision to be a healthier you! Let me know how I can help!

My goal for August is to “move with purpose” for 30 minutes at least 5 days per week, with no more than 1 day off per week. These days my primary “movement” (aka exercise) is walking. I am happy to report that once again, I walked at least 30 minutes each day this week. And although I’ve lost one of the pounds I gained while away at Authors After Dark, I am still over three pounds above the goal weight I made back at the beginning of the summer. I know that if I want to get back to that weight, I’m going to have to watch my caloric intake much more closely – sticking under certain limits each day, and I honestly don’t know if I can do that on a continual basis. Do any of you have a suggestion on how to do that (other than tracking, which I already do)? If so, let me know! Thanks!

Felicia is still hosting her monthly giveaway, so don’t forget to add your name to the linky below to throw your name in the hat! For more information and to sign up for August, please visit Felicia’s site. Also, be sure to leave a comment here with your progress so that we can all cheer you on!

In addition, I am also giving away a $10 [US] Gift Card (Amazon or Barnes & Noble) during the month of August! In order to enter this giveaway, please fill out the Rafflecopter form, below. a Rafflecopter giveaway

If you have problems with the Rafflecopter form, please email me at twimom227 (at) gmail (dot) com.

See you all back here next week! Until then… keep on moving!

Well done Jen, great to meet your weekly goal and lose a little as well! Thanks for hosting again.

    • Thanks Kathryn! I hope I can make the weight loss stick, but I keep going up and down! Best wishes to you!

I’m having a great week, even if I’ve had two rest days. I’ve averaged 8,760 steps per day since the last check in. Great job to everyone and keep up the good work. Every little bit helps.

    • That is just amazing Melanie! Great job!!

My week was a little off due to a headache that just didn’t want to go away…but I still got some walks in.

    Have a great week!

    • I hope you are starting to feel better! Good job on still getting out there!

great job ladies!!! My goal this week was to bump the walking up to at least 2.5 miles a day and *not* weigh in til the end of the week. I was getting discouraged by the yo-yo’ing. I did the walking goal 3 days this week and did not weigh til this am. Weeelll… I’ve lost inches around my middle but not pounds! So I’m going to stick w/ the weigh in only once a week.

    • That is awesome!! Great job! Sometimes changing up what we do helps!

Have you heard about interval minute running/jogging with your walking? Do some intervals of a minute or two of jogging mixed in with your walking I’m not a runner so I try to mix a bit of light jogging in with my walking on the treadmill.

    • You know, I haven’t done that in a long while, and that is a great way to burn a few more calories. I’ll have to remember to work on that this week. Thanks!!

  • I learned a lesson this week, make a note of my day on twitter. I am so forgetful

    • What do you mean? Did you forget what you did each day as far as exercise?!

  • Marq aka SmutGirl

I miss my gym! The weather sucked so the latter part of the week, I wasn’t able to walk. Boo! Hoping for better weather until my gym reopens.

    • Oh, sucks the gym is closed. How much longer do you have to wait. I hope the weather cooperates until then! Hey – you can always do jumping jacks!
