Greetings 2015 and welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group for the upcoming year. During the months of January – March 2015, Felicia will host the official check-ins. You can catch this week’s post HERE. Please feel free to check-in with a comment here as well!

My Goals:

My overall goals for 2015 are to keep up my current level of exercise, maintain my goal weight, and log my food intake every day for the year. I also want to add some races in once the weather warms up.

As for January 2015, with the colder weather, my primary goal is to make sure I continue get out and move. My goal for January is to move with purpose for 30 minutes each day, taking off no more than one day per week. In addition, I will log my food/caloric intake each day using the LostIt! app.

My Week:

Well, it’s only the second day of the month, and so far I’m doing okay! I’ve only gained a pound or two over the holidays and am still under my goal weight of 155 lbs. I’ve not been super careful about what I’ve been eating, but I’ve made sure to keep exercising.

My Movement:
December 2014
Friday: 31 minutes walking
Saturday: 15 minutes walking
Sunday: 55 minutes walking
Monday: 52 minutes walking
Tuesday: 31 minutes walking
Wednesday: none

January 2015
Thursday: 58 minutes walking

About Me:

I used to be someone that was driven to work out. I never had a big weight problem for most of my life. However, during the early 2010’s, a number of things added up, and I found myself not exercising, eating a lot (and struggled with emotional eating), and in a big funk. Thanks to Felicia and #BookBlogWalkers, I started my journey back to a healthier lifestyle on January 6, 2014. I started with the goal of moving with purpose for 10 minutes each day and tracking my food intake. As the days progressed, I was able to walk longer and even start jogging. During 2014, I lost 25 pounds and reached my goal weight in September. Now I am working to keep the weight off and stay active. I find the best motivation for walking is a good audiobook and the support of my friends. Generally, I weigh-in once per week, on Mondays, and I’ll be writing weekly check in posts here on Fridays.     Great goals. I’m hoping to loose some weight and fit back into jeans that I used to be able to wear a few years ago. Down one or two sizes depending on the jeans. The support with BookBlogWalkers has really helped. Now on with FitReaders

    Cool app! I’m sure once I get into #FitReaders for a while I’ll be tracking my food intake as well. I’m just doing exercises from YouTube – Fitnessblender is awesome – and running. Going to try to gain some strength and endurance.

    • Thanks for joining us this year! I never thought of going to YouTube for exercise videos. I’ve downloaded the 7 minute workout, but haven’t tried that app yet. Walking is my main exercise right now.

    Jen you did so well last year, and keeping it up this year is great. I know the cold can be off putting, I always remember you all in various parts of the world doing it and the support just does help.

    • Thanks Kathryn! It’s funny to think that when I started this last year, it was equally cold and icy out. If I could do it then, I can do it now, right?!

    I am happy with my week, I pushed myself to walk even though it was just ice outside…to be fair I did have that fall, hm 😉 But I felt a good start to the new year will make the rest easier

    I just want to make sure I do something every day and focus on a few specific areas – like flexibility and strength.

    • Sounds perfect! I like the flexibility and strength aspect. I need to add some of that too.

    Great goals!!! I’ve been sick this week, so I didn’t get much walking in yesterday and nothing for today. But, I just switched around my rest days and hopefully I’ll be feeling up to at least a little walk tomorrow!

    • Thanks! Sometimes changing things up works wonders for a routine. Even if you don’t get out and walk, try some jumping jacks or such!

    Great goals! My goal is to of course to continue losing weight, cut down sugars, and cut down carby food. I would like to lose another 10 lbs in the next few months.

    • Good luck! We are here to help you! I wasn’t ever able to cut carbs from my diet. I really should work on getting less carbs and more proteins into my diet… someday!

  • You’re off to a great start this year! I want to get in at least 30 minutes of exercise most days, probably the treadmill since it’s cold. Looking forward to springtime walking!!

    • That’s a great goal to have. I find I’m more motivated to get outside than on a treadmill, but if it gets too cold… 🙂
