My Week:

The end of last week and over the weekend, I enjoyed some amazing book time at the Coastal Magic Con in Daytona, Florida. In only its third year, the con is remarkably well-run and so much fun. I highly recommend the trip next February! While there, I was able to get outside every morning with Liza (@MsLizaLou) and Jeffe Kennedy to get in our walking. Not to mention, the constant moving – I was well over 10,000 steps each day, which is probably why, even though I ate a lot, I didn’t gain any weight!

Back home – you guessed it… more snow. It’s unreal. Everyone here is so down and frustrated with the snow. And guess what’s coming on Sunday? Another foot or more of snow. *sigh*

My Movement:
Friday: 33 minutes walking
Saturday: 48 minutes walking
Sunday: 46 minutes walking
Monday: 65 minutes shoveling
Tuesday: 32 minutes walking
Wednesday: 35 minutes yoga/stretching
Thursday: 35 minutes walking

How was your week? Did you hit any milestones? Try a new food or workout? Celebrate your week with us!

What is #FitReaders?

We are a group of readers, bloggers, authors, etc. who come together with the common goal of adding some movement into our lives, getting healthy, and staying fit. You do not have to have a blog to join in. You can use the weekly check-in posts here or at The Geeky Blogger, a blog, Twitter, Facebook, or in a private, off-line journal to log your own journey. Just know that we are all in this together and here to provide support to one another. Look for the hashtag and join us! Click the image at the top of this post to sign up for January 2015.

About Me:

I used to be someone that was driven to work out. I never had a big weight problem for most of my life. However, during the early 2010’s, a number of things added up, and I found myself not exercising, eating a lot (struggling with emotional eating), and in a big funk. Thanks to Felicia and #BookBlogWalkers, I started my journey back to a healthier lifestyle on January 6, 2014. I started with the goal of moving with purpose for 10 minutes each day and tracking my food intake. As the days progressed, I was able to walk longer and even start jogging. During 2014, I lost 25 pounds and reached my goal weight in September. Now I am working to keep the weight off and stay active. I find the best motivation for walking is a good audiobook and the support of my friends. Generally, I weigh-in once per week, on Mondays, and I’ll be writing weekly check in posts here on Fridays. Thanks for joining me in this journey! If you have any questions and don’t want to comment, please email me at twimom227 (at) gmail (dot) com. I’m also on LoseIt! with the user name Twimom227.

My Goals:
My overall goals for 2015 are to keep up my current level of exercise, maintain my goal weight, and log my food intake every day for the year. I also want to add some races in once the weather warms up.

As for February 2015, with the colder weather and very crazy schedule, my primary goal is to make sure I continue get out and move. My goal for February is to move with purpose for 30 minutes each day, taking off no more than one day per week. In addition, I will log my food/caloric intake each day using the LostIt! app. Finally, I want to start adding in a BodyFlow class when I can, and I will start in earnest next month (due to travel commitments in February).

  • So glad to hear you had fun at the event! As the walking — great job and keep it up! 😀

    • Thanks. It’s easier to walk with great scenery plus other like-minded, motivated folks. Now… about the snow here…

      • So very true! 🙂

Sorry for the snow. We’re having crazy weather this year; it’s February and the snow melted weeks ago, now I’m taking my afternoon walks in shorts and a tshirt! But I’m sure there will be more snow before spring hits — or I hope, otherwise we’re going to be screwed for water this summer!

  • Great work 🙂 I got a lot of steps in on Thursday, just from working a long long day, but then I was to tired to walk at home so was a normal day in the end, lol

    • I’ve been doing a lot of that lately – leaving off “regular” exercise b/c I’ve done more of something else – like shovel!!

  • Carole

Good job! Lots of walking. 🙂

  • I have heard that con was a lot of fun! Glad you were still able to get in your work out time!

    • Yes! I highly recommend coming sometime! I hope I can get back!

  • Kathryn Trask

Must have been nice to get down to Florida and walk without the snow!

    • It really was, even for the short time I was there. Luckily, I have my family vacation coming next week and there is an amazing nature walk there. I’ll be logging in some major miles while visiting my folks in Florida!

  • teddyree

Well done Jen, Con sounds like heaps of fun and bonus getting all that walking in. Keep up the good work 🙂

  • Carole

😀 Awesome job this week (better then me). I just have not had a lot of time with school and work and being lazy when I do get a hair of time.

    • Thank you! I’m worried with all the cold and snow that if I stop, it will become too easy to be lazy… so I keep going!

  • I would have loved to gone to that con. I’m a huge fan of Donna Grant and Elisabeth Naughton! It’s nice you got a break from the cold weather. Great job and I hope you have a nice week =)

    • Oh it was so great!! Do you think you could go next year?

      • I would love to but it is far and an expensive trip. If they moved it closer to California, maybe Las Vegas, I would definitely go lol.
