My Week:

This week was much better than last week both physically and mentally. We had a few sunny days and even a couple of warm moments. I had a WONDERFUL day skiing with my kids – sunny, 50 and no lines! I also got in another BodyFlow class. I’m feeling a little recharged. Now I need to carry this momentum into April. I can’t believe we are already three months into 2015!

My Movement:
Friday: 46 minutes walking
Saturday: none
Sunday: 33 minutes walking
Monday: 21 minutes elliptical
Tuesday: 79 minutes walking
Wednesday: 5 hours downhill skiing
Thursday:  50 minutes BodyFlow

How was your week? Did you hit any milestones? Try a new food or workout? Celebrate your week with us!

Note: Starting next week, the monthly #FitReader registrations for April, May, and June will move here to That’s What I’m Talking About. Be sure to look for the April post on April 1. Yea!

What is #FitReaders?

We are a group of readers, bloggers, authors, etc. who come together with the common goal of adding some movement into our lives, getting healthy, and staying fit. You do not have to have a blog to join in. You can use the weekly check-in posts here or at The Geeky Blogger, a blog, Twitter, Facebook, or in a private, off-line journal to log your own journey. Just know that we are all in this together and here to provide support to one another. Look for the hashtag and join us! Click the image at the top of this post to sign up for this month.

About Me:

I used to be someone that was driven to work out. I never had a big weight problem for most of my life. However, during the early 2010’s, a number of things added up, and I found myself not exercising, eating a lot (struggling with emotional eating), and in a big funk. Thanks to Felicia and #BookBlogWalkers, I started my journey back to a healthier lifestyle on January 6, 2014. I started with the goal of moving with purpose for 10 minutes each day and tracking my food intake. As the days progressed, I was able to walk longer and even start jogging. During 2014, I lost 25 pounds and reached my goal weight in September. Now I am working to keep the weight off and stay active. I find the best motivation for walking is a good audiobook and the support of my friends. Generally, I weigh-in once per week, on Mondays, and I’ll be writing weekly check in posts here on Fridays. Thanks for joining me in this journey! If you have any questions and don’t want to comment, please email me at twimom227 (at) gmail (dot) com. I’m also on LoseIt! with the user name Twimom227.

My Goals:
My overall goals for 2015 are to keep up my current level of exercise, maintain my goal weight, and log my food intake every day for the year. I also want to add some races in once the weather warms up.

As for March 2015, with the colder weather and very crazy schedule, my primary goal is to make sure I continue get out and move. My goal for March is to move with purpose for 30 minutes each day, taking off no more than one day per week. In addition, I will log my food/caloric intake each day using the LostIt! app. Finally, I want to start adding in a BodyFlow class when I can.

  • Great week for you! The skiing must have been awesome! We were really warm here and sunny so that really helped me.

    • It was a blast, but wow am I still sore! I should have posted a couple of photos!

  • I haven’t been skiing in years, sounds like it was great! I had an okay week – still dealing with my foot injury. Its taking longer than I’d like to get back to healthy :/ Grr! But I moved so I’m satisfied I did all I could.

    • Keeping up, even when you have to take it slow, it critical in my opinion. Obviously, you don’t want to hurt yourself, but knowing that you did a little rather than nothing is good for the psyche!

  • I tried skiing once and well let’s just say there is a reason I got kicked out of gymnastics at the age of 5. Coordination is not my friend 🙂

    • LMAO! My son is a snowboarder and tried my skis when we were out. He couldn’t even go 3 feet without falling. It takes time to learn!

  • You did great and it’s good you are getting some nice weather. I tried skiing once and I couldn’t get the hang of it. But I would love to try snowshoeing. Have a great week!

    • I started skiing in high school. I’m loving it now that I can go with my kids. Makes it fun!

  • That is a lot of skiing 🙂

    • Yes, but half that time is on lifts. Plus, the “mountain” we were at was pretty small, so a lot of up and down.

Wow – you had a great week!!! What is the BodyFlow class – is it like a yoga class? I’m finally going back to my yoga classes this week – hoping to get in at least 2 if not 3 classes a week. I also have a session with a personal trainer this week – hoping he’ll give me some pointers on how to incorporate strength training into my exercise regiment. I don’t really like the big machines at the gym, but need to do something. Have a great week!!!

I’ve never been snow skiing but I used to water ski (not sure if they’re interchangeable lol) … great exercise though. I’m back for April, just chugging along though. Keep up the good work!

    • Having both water skied and snow skied, I feel comfortable saying, no they aren’t the same! LOL. Water skiing is hard on the back and is more intense for the time you are skiing. Snow skiing is probably less strenuous while skiing, but you do for longer periods – like all day! Thanks. And… glad to see you are back with us!!
