Welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group during 2015. For the months of July – September 2015, Felicia will be hosting the official check-ins. This is my weekly check-in post where I share about my week, and I hope you share about yours as well. You can also catch Felicia’s weekly check-in HERE.

If you have a weekly check-in blog post or put your updates on any social media site, please leave a link to your check-in posts in the comment section, below. Or, if you want to use this post as your weekly check-in, leave a comment telling us how your week went!

My Week:

One week into August, and I’m doing okay. When I weighed in at the beginning of the week, I was up a pound, but when I weighed in today, I was down a pound. I have been a bit more conscientious in my food/beverage choices, and while not perfect, I’ve been better this week. My daily exercise routine has stayed pretty much the same, which is good for now. I’ve noticed some aches and pains in my legs and hips… getting older sucks sometimes. I’m also adjusting to my blood pressure meds, which leave my lower legs feeling a little swollen. However, all-in-all, I’ve had a pretty good week.

My Movement*:
Friday: 30 minutes walking, 10,772 steps/day
Saturday: 35  minutes walking, 10,231 steps/day
Sunday: 58 minutes walking, 14,197 steps/day
Monday: 45 + 36 minutes walking, 12,319 steps/day
Tuesday: 62 minutes walking, 10,631 steps/day
Wednesday: 43 minutes walking, 11,568 steps/day
Thursday: 53 minutes BodyFlow, 57 minutes walking, 12,001 steps/day

* I track two different goals. The first goal is a timed duration of exercise – moving with the intent to raise my heart rate and get in some cardiovascular work. This is what I’m mean when I say “45 minutes walking.” The second goal is total daily steps. This is from my Fitbit, which measures all steps from 12:00AM – 11:59PM, exercise included.

Questions for YOU!

How was your week? Did you hit any milestones? Try a new food or workout? Celebrate your week with us!

  • This getting old thing is for the young uns that want to be older LOL 🙂 I hear ya on aches and pains that just come with it!

    • What is with that?! Guess I just need to keep moving!

  • You had great steps last week – I’d say you’re doing awesome!!

    • Thanks. While I am getting in steps, I feel that the caliber of the walks isn’t what they had been in the Spring – slower, less time, etc. But this is still good!

  • Jeffe Kennedy

I’ve lost 1.7 pounds of fat this week and walked 23 miles so far. Finally getting back in the groove after the RWA diet-bomb. But I might not make my goals by my birthday, alas 🙁

    • Strive for maintaining during times when you are traveling or celebrating! You’ll do great. I’m heading off to the Cape this weekend; I foresee less walking and more eating.

  • Mary

I hear you on the aches/pains – somehow I feel better after walking so I keep on 🙂 Your steps totals are amazing!

    • Thanks Mary! I feel good after walking, but it’s at night or in the morning that I hurt most!

  • Still doing great 🙂

  • Sullivan McPig

I might have to start checking in here or at Blodeuedd’s site each week to give myself a bit more incentive/pressure to keep walking and running.

    • Yes yes! I’m also good at nagging, er I mean cheering peeps on, if you want it! Let me know!

  • Adriana Garcia

I’ve heard that people move through a couple of pounds 1-5 up and down because it’s considered water weight. I don’t know if that’s what’s happening with you.
You’ve had a great week despite the aches and pains. I didn’t get to post my #FitReaders update this week but I can happily say I’m now going to the gym with my cousin every Monday-Friday. I’m sore but not terribly.

    • Yea! So glad to hear you are making it to the gym!!

The weight for me is based on my eating habits. I’m okay going up and down that range b/c I’m staying below my “goal weight,” but when I eat too much I go up… LOL!
