Welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group for another year! For the the first quarter of 2016 (January – March), Felicia will be hosting the official check-ins. This is my weekly check-in post where I share about my week, and I hope you share about yours as well.

My Week:

IMG_9244As another week flies by, I’m doing pretty good. The exciting news from this week… I COMPLETED A 10k (6.2 miles) on Monday!! I honestly never would have pushed myself if it weren’t for all of you awesome FitReaders. So THANK YOU!! But then my head cold really kicked my butt on Tuesday, and I went to bed early without getting in a longer walk. No worries! I had a good night’s sleep and was back on track Wednesday. Between the FitBit Challenges and my FitReader friends, I’ve managed to stay on track.

My Movement*:
Friday: two walks totaling 23 minutes + one hour downhill skiing, 11,915 steps/day
Saturday: one walk totaling 59 minutes, 11,560 steps/day
Sunday: one walk totaling 33 minutes, 10,470 steps/day
Monday: one walk totaling 91 minutes (10k!!), 16,663 steps/day
Tuesday: one walk totaling 17 minutes, 5,806 steps/day
Wednesday: two walks totaling 57 minutes, 13,489 steps/day
Thursday: 52 minutes Body Flow + one walk totaling 40 minutes, 12,800 steps/day

* I track two different goals. The first goal is a timed duration of exercise – moving with the intent to raise my heart rate and get in some cardiovascular work. This is what I’m mean when I say “45 minutes walking.” The second goal is total daily steps. This is from my Fitbit, which measures all steps from 12:00AM – 11:59PM, exercise included.

Wrap up for January:

I pretty much met my goals for the month. I tracked all of my food – every day – all month long! As of today, I “moved with purpose” 27 of 29 days… not everyday was 30 minutes, but I did get in some sort of movement. I missed reaching 10,000 steps on 5 different days, but my overall daily average for the month was over 10,000 steps/day. And the biggest accomplishment was finishing both the 5k and 10k Virtual Races. I call January a success! How was your month?
