My Week:

Here we are, another month and time to reset the mind and body. So far in May, I’ve been much better with my eating habits. Additionally, I’m working on getting more steps throughout the day, while still getting in a 2-4 mile walk. I love the little reminder that Alta gives, reminding me to get up and move. My goal for next week is to get in at least one 5k.

My Movement*:
Friday: one walk totaling 46 minutes, 10,683 steps/day
Saturday: one walk totaling 48 minutes, 10,581 steps/day
Sunday: two walks totaling 38 minutes, 10,772 steps/day
Monday: one walk totaling 14 minutes + 37 minutes elliptical, 10,267 steps/day
Tuesday: two walks totaling 50 minutes, 12,132 steps/day
Wednesday: two walks totaling 37 minutes, 11,250 steps/day
Thursday: 50 minutes Body Flow + one walk totaling 28 minutes, 10,000+ steps/day

* I track two different goals. The first goal is a timed duration of exercise – moving with the intent to raise my heart rate and get in some cardiovascular work. This is what I’m mean when I say “45 minutes walking.” The second goal is total daily steps. This is from my Fitbit, which measures all steps from 12:00AM – 11:59PM, exercise included.

How was your week? What were you successes? What were your challenges? Be sure to stop over at Felicia the Geeky Blogger blog to check in with her.

  • I met all of my goals this week! Here’s my check-in: https://fortifiedbybooks.com/2016/05/06/fitreaders-check-in-61/

  • Well done! I didn’t hit my normal step goal this week, but I’ve been taking rest days before the 10K tomorrow. I’ve had some foot pain and have been forced to take it easy. ;(

    • OH! I hope the foot pain doesn’t impede your run tomorrow. GOOD LUCK!! I’ll be thinking of you!

My week was pretty good. I went to my yoga class and went running. Now I just have to try and eat healthier.

    • Good work. Sounds like several of us are in the “eat healthier” category.

  • Met my goals this week even though Fitbit was a bit fat liar on Monday. http://estellasrevenge.blogspot.com/2016/05/fitreaders-check-in-050716.html

    • Big fat liar?! I hate that! Thanks for checking in.

    • I hear you. I’ve been feeling blah here.

  • Kristin T.

You had a great week! I’ve been good with my eating, too – what a difference it makes 🙂 I’m loving the reminders from the Alta, too…especially when I’ve been sitting at my computer too long!

    Here’s my check-in: http://alwayswithabook.blogspot.com/2016/05/fitreaders-weekly-check-in-may-6.html

    • My new goal is the hit the 250 step count from 7 AM to 7 PM. I’ve only done it a couple times, surprisingly.

  • Christina T

Great job with your steps! I only met my step goal twice last week. It was not a good week for me. Hopefully this week I will feel better and be able to get my steps in more often.

Checking in. Glad May is going better for you.
I have been keeping the stationary bike up, as my achilles is not cooperating on long walks. Also, tracking on the Spark people which has been helpful. My one year anniversary as a vegetarian was this week, and as far as healthy life changes, I do feel good about that one.

Trying to decide on the Alta. I read your review, and it sounds good. I only have the zip right now, so I imagine it will be an upgrade.

    • Yes. the Alta would be a big upgrade from the Zip, as long as you don’t mind wrist bands. It has a nice display that is versatile. You can see time, steps, distance, calories burned. Plus the text and call feature when in range of your phone. I really like it, despite the drawbacks I’ve had in comparison to the Charge HR.

Congrats on the lifestyle change anniversary! Woot!

I hit my 12k per day step goal and made it two the gym twice. Vivian and I went to social run and several people asked if she really runs the whole way *eyeroll* luckily we have a gentleman that likes our pace and comments that she is his favorite running buddy and does pull me the whole way. (she has been running for 2.5 years and has no issues with up to 7 miles). I know I will not hit my steps goals a few days in the next week and I have made my peace with it. 🙂

    • Great job last week… and no worries about the next few days/week. You’ll make up for it later!
