Sign up for June!

Welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group for another year! I’m hosting check-ins from April through June 2016, and you’ll find the check-ins every Friday right here. Starting next Friday, July 1, the Commit to Exercise posts will be back at The Geeky Blogger, but I’ll still have weekly check-ins here.

I only use the linky for the monthly Commit to Exercise posts, so please use the comment section below for your check-in. You can leave a link to your own weekly check-in blog post or any social media site in the comment section. Or if you prefer, use the comment section as your own weekly check-in space.

Also, if you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.

Important News: Did you miss a month finishing your Virtual 5k or 10k Race or your 1 mile Fun Run? Did you recently join #FitReaders? Here’s your chance to make up those races! From now until the end of the year, you can count two races each month towards completing the race series. The first 1 mile, 5k, or 10k will be counted for the month it is completed, and the second 1 mile, 5k, or 10k can be used as a “make up” for a missed month. Just be sure to log in the comments of the finish line linky page which month the make up race is for. Questions? let me know.

My Week:

Has it been another week already? I am so busy right now, I can’t remember day-to-day stuff. Overall, I’m still getting in steps and eating has been so-so. My calves are still tight, but feeling better; my achilles are starting to feel worse. I’ve been working around my yard every day, which has helped with the steps. I’m almost done with my job for the “year” (my planning year goes from September through June, and I’m off July and August), and we are getting ready for our annual family trip to visit my family in MI. Just chugging along.

My Movement*:

Friday: two walks totaling 38 minutes, 12,130 steps/day
Saturday: one walk totaling 25 minutes, 11,651 steps/day
Sunday: one walk totaling 17 minutes + yard work, 10,380 steps/day
Monday: one walk totaling 30 minutes + yard work, 15,629 steps/day
Tuesday: two walks totaling 44 minutes + yard work, 12,040 steps/day
Wednesday: one walk totaling 40 minutes + yard work, 13,739 steps/day
Thursday: one walk totaling 40 minutes, 11,500+ steps/day

* I track two different goals. The first goal is a timed duration of exercise – moving with the intent to raise my heart rate and get in some cardiovascular work. This is what I’m mean when I say “45 minutes walking.” The second goal is total daily steps. This is from my Fitbit, which measures all steps from 12:00AM – 11:59PM, exercise included.

How was your week? What were you successes? What were your challenges? How did your June go? Be sure to stop over at Felicia the Geeky Blogger blog to check in with her.

Don’t forget to sign up for July next week at Felicia the Geeky Blogger!

  • Look at me! Checking in on a Friday! http://books-forlife.blogspot.fi/2016/06/looking-for-me-beth-hoffman-and.html

LOL, but it’s a holiday and I need to get going

    • WOO HOO!!! Enjoy the weekend. (what holiday?)

  • Looks like you’re still doing really great! One of these days I’ll get a FitBit and I’ll aspire to get step counts like yours! And yay for almost being on vacation!

    My check in post

    • Thanks. haha I’ve become a Fitbit addict – but in a positive way. It really has helped me get moving more throughout the day.

  • Hopefully you’ll continue to feel better. Have fun on your trip. Are we there yet? LOL

    • Haha! Thanks. My son (12.5) was on a 6 hour road trip with his dad and aunt and uncle yesterday. I kept texting him “Are we there yet?” Memes. It was pretty funny.

  • I won’t be doing any kind of exercise until the end of next week, no thanks to my back, but here’s my weekly check-in: https://fortifiedbybooks.com/2016/06/24/fitreaders-check-in-68/

  • It’s crazy how fast the week can go. I’m doing similar to your yardwork but cleaning in the house. Those steps do add up!

    • It’s a good thing – steps mean burning calories!

  • Kristin T.

I’ve been quite busy at work, too…it’s that time of year when it gets crazy! So taking walks has been my saving grace – it helps clear my head so I don’t go insane 😉

Sorry to hear you’re still having trouble with your achilles…hope you can resolve it soon!

    Here’s my week: http://alwayswithabook.blogspot.com/2016/06/fitreaders-weekly-check-in-june-24.html

    • Yes… I do enjoy my walks and listening to my books. It is “ME TIME.”

  • The last week has been not so good for me. Exams are getting closer so I don’t have much time for exercise. Hope it gets better this week.

    • Good luck studying and with exams. Maybe take a break every hour to just get up and move for 2 minutes?

      • That’s a good idea. Have to do something like this or I might go crazy.
