Picking out a new computer…

Picking out a new computer… It’s time to admit it… My desktop Compaq PC is over-the-hill. It’s old and slow. And although I’ll still love my husband when he’s old and slow, I am not in love with my PC any longer. Yesterday, when my 3.5-year-old daughter wanted to color a “Littlest Pet Shop” cat printout (from the internet), it took me 20 minutes just to turn the computer on and get it to the “starting point.” It’s time to put the PC in the trash. SO, now it’s time to spend money… What to buy? We have already decided that we’ll get a laptop to replace the old desktop. In the age of...

Love at First Kindle…

Love at First Kindle… I love my Kindle! I’ll say it again, I LOVE my Kindle! Even with the big, SCARY mess that Amazon and MacMillan Publishing have gotten themselves into, I still have faith that my Kindle isn’t going to leave me anytime soon. Background Information: First about my book buying habits: I love to read book series. I’ll blog on my favorite series another time, but just know that I have at least a dozen paranormal romance series in paperback (I started reading/collecting the books in October 2008). I love to collect the books, referring to earlier books in the series, re-reading my favorites from time-to-time, etc. I am also very...

Are you LOST yet?

Are you LOST yet? YES… I am one of those LOST fanatics. I LOVE this show. But I’ve always loved a great science fiction book/show that makes you really THINK. Now, LOST is not some deep, meaningful show, but it does make you think about “stuff,” and I enjoy that. So here we are at the start of the final season of LOST. I have faithfully watched every episode since the beginning. My neighbor comes over every week, we make popcorn and we watch. I DVR the show so we can go back and re-watch things as needed. Sometimes it’s one of those WTF moments, like when we first saw the smoke monster...

That Techno Beat…

That Techno Beat… Although I have been using a computer since the late 1980’s and I’ve owned an iPod for 4 years and an iPhone for the past 1.5 years… I’m not that knowledgeable in the techno world. I use Facebook. And I simply adore Twitter. In fact, I find myself trying to re-tweet Facebook status updates, only to remember, it’s not Twitter. I have met so many wonderful people via “on line social settings,” such as the Twilight Lexicon (http://www.twilightlexicon.com/) and Twitter. My family thinks it’s crazy that I’m “meeting” friends online. I try to tell them it’s not like I’m trying to pick up a date or meet for some...

Baby It’s Cold Outside…

Baby It’s Cold Outside… BRRRRR!Or as they say here in New England: It’s WICKED COLD out! After 2 weeks of very mild weather – at least 9 degrees above the normal temperatures, winter has returned in full-force. The temperature today was 10* – with a wind chill of WAY BELOW zero. Now I know this isn’t as cold as it is in say North Dakota, but I’m a wimp and it’s too cold. I can’t stand the cold. AND unfortunately … There is a defect in the heating pipes that warm my bedroom. When the wind is fierce and the temps drop – the pipes freeze and I get no heat in my...

What I’m Reading… Guardian Series By Meljean Brook

What I’m Reading… Guardian Series By Meljean Brook So right now I am reading Meljean Brook’s Guardian series. I am currently reading the 3rd book: Demon Night. From Meljean’s website: Charlie Newcomb worked hard to get her life back together. But all that is shaken when she’s set upon by three vampires desperate to transform her beauty into something evil. Because Charlie is the vital link to something they want—and need. It’s Charlie’s flesh and blood sister, a medical scientist whose knowledge could be invaluable to the predators. But to get to her, they must first get to Charlie, now under the intimate protection of Ethan McCabe. As her Guardian, Ethan is attracted to her vulnerabilities—as well...

Day 1: A new frontier

I really don’t know what I’m getting myself into. But these days it seems that everyone has a blog. I know “Everyone’s doing it.” Yep, that’s me… I’m a follower and jumping into the world of blogging. I figure I’ll start simple and maybe someday it will grow. My plans for my blog: to tell you some random thoughts that I have. To share with you the books that I am reading, or that I just love. I’ll try and link you to book reviews and other fun sites. But for now, I’m taking it slow. I look forward to trying out this new adventure. Please leave me a...
