#FitReaders Check-In: June 12, 2015

#FitReaders Check-In: June 12, 2015 Welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group during 2015. For the months of April – June 2015, I will be hosting the official check-ins. To learn more about #FitReaders, or to sign up for May, click the image above. This is my weekly check-in post where I share about my week, and I hope you share about yours as well. You can also catch Felicia’s weekly check-in HERE. If you have a weekly check-in blog post or put your updates on any social media site, please leave a link to your check-in posts in the comment section, below. Or, if you want to use this post as your weekly check-in, leave a comment telling us how your week went! My Week: My “week” started with a trip to Lori Foster’s Annual Reader Author Get Together. I attended the event in West Chester, OH, along with 500 other readers, authors, bloggers, and industry professionals. This was my fourth year attending. One of the great perks – getting to walk, drink, and dance with some of our #FitReader crew! For more of my photos from the event, check out my Facebook page. I did a great job getting in my steps, even while away, especially on Friday night when there was an awesome dance event. A few of us danced for about four hours, determined to hit 20,000 steps! Eating – well that wasn’t quite as good, as I did have a few too many servings of this and that. I was up a couple pounds at my weigh-in on Monday, but I know it will come off now that I’m back home. My Movement: Friday: 37 minutes walking, 21,294 steps Saturday: 39 minutes walking, 10,224 steps Sunday: no exercise, 6,789 steps Monday: 39 minutes walking, 10,097 steps Tuesday: 51 minutes walking, 12,924 steps Wednesday: no exercise, 12,108 steps Thursday: 35 minutes walking, 10,574 steps Questions for YOU! How was your week? Did you hit any milestones? Try a new food or workout? Celebrate your week with us! Don’t forget to sign up for #FitReaders for the month of...

My Week: Thank you again, to those who helped push me last week, and even through the weekend, with the Fitbit Challenges. It truly made a difference – not only did I lose the temporary weight I gained over the long weekend, but I lost an additional pound! All the extra steps and movement helped me watch my caloric intake, which resulted in the very good week. Of course now I’m attending the Annual Reader Author Get Together hosted by Lori Foster, and I’ve already eaten well over my calories in the first day! However, I’m here with fellow #FitReader hostess, Felicia, and together we are getting in our walks and steps. I love being with my book buddies! My Movement: Friday: 62 minutes walking, 12,631 steps Saturday: 74 minutes walking, 15,496 steps Sunday: 56 minutes walking, 11,198 steps Monday: 51 minutes walking, 10,605 steps Tuesday: 73 minutes walking, 13,960 steps Wednesday: 31 minutes walking, 15,224 steps Thursday: 57 minutes walking, 12,200 steps Questions for YOU! The weather was ideal and everyone had a great time. I ate WAY TOO MUCH FOOD all weekend, so it was no surprise that I gained almost three pounds when I weighed in on Monday. I finished the bulk of the writing for my big project at work, so I didn’t have to put in extra hours this week. Then, buoyed by the warm weather, I was able to get out and walk, and I managed to hit step counts and exercise every day this week. Of course, I’m really looking forward to this weekend when we host our neighborhood lobster bake. I just ordered 50 lobsters and 50 lbs of steamers! I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep track of my calorie count! My Movement: Friday: 61 minutes walking, 10,602 steps Saturday: 45 minutes walking, 12.038 steps Sunday: 49 minutes walking, 11,349 steps Monday: 45 minutes walking, 10,864 steps Tuesday: 73 minutes walking, 12,385 steps Wednesday: 46 minutes walking, 10,870 steps Thursday:  68 minutes walking/jogging, 15,354 steps Questions for YOU! #FitReaders Check-In: May 15, 2015 Welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group during 2015. Or, if you want to use this post as your weekly check-in, leave a comment telling us how your week went! My Week: This week has been a mixed bag for me. Life has been busy, both at home and work. My big project is coming up on deadlines, and I’ve been working late and on the weekends trying to get it all done. Good news is that after today, things won’t be nearly as crazy at work. At home, we have the usual craziness of spring sports and end-of-school. However, the Boy has a knee injury and BG has on-going medical issues that have me running all over to appointments. In the end, I missed meeting my step count on three days and didn’t get in my 30 minutes in on two days. BOO! The wins for this week include: I did a walk/jog on Thursday – first time “running” since last fall for me. And, even though I was working late, I did take advantage of the nice weather one day and went for a short (1 mile) walk along this trail (photo, above), which is right next to my office. The trail was created on the site of a former railroad track and goes on for miles and miles. I may need to take time to hit this path more often! My Movement: Friday: 45 minutes walking, 10,388 steps Saturday: none, 4,659 steps Sunday: 39 minutes walking, 9,368 steps Monday: 41 minutes walking, 11,794 steps Tuesday: 42 minutes walking, 10,182 steps Wednesday: 16 minutes walking, 7,618 steps Thursday:  55 minutes BodyFlow + 65 minutes walking/jogging, 12,900 steps Questions for YOU! Or, if you want to use this post as your weekly check-in, leave a comment telling us how your week went! My Week: SUMMER HAS ARRIVED! Seriously…. It went from highs in the mid-40s to 70s and even 80 on Thursday! This week has been absolutely beautiful and so I’ve been outside a lot. The weather makes walking so much more enjoyable. I even got away from my usual route now that the sidewalks are clear of snow! I live on the coast, so there are a lot of wetlands and marshes. Here is a photo of a small wooded wetland near me. As I mentioned last week – I am now a member of Fitbit and I’m really enjoying it! I set my step goal at 10,000 per day – this is in addition to exercising 30 minutes/day. It’s definitely making a difference in my day-to-day activities. I’ll march in place, walk the long way to get something at work, do jumping jacks while watching TV! The weekly challenges are fun too! You can friend me via twimom227 (at) gmail (dot) com. My Movement: Friday: 35 minutes walking + 20 minutes on trampoline, 12,669 steps Saturday: 43 minutes walking, 10,139 steps Sunday: 47 minutes walking, 10,357 steps Monday: 46 minutes walking, 10,333 steps Tuesday: 71 minutes walking, 12,938 steps Wednesday: 66 minutes walking, 12,878 steps Thursday:  55 minutes BodyFlow + 60 minutes walking, 12,300 steps Questions for YOU! #FitReaders Check-In: April 24, 2015 Welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group during 2015. For the months of April – June 2015, I will be hosting the official check-ins. To learn more about #FitReaders, or to sign up for April, click the image above. Or, if you want to use this post as your weekly check-in, leave a comment telling us how your week went!  My Week: Overall, I had a very active week and I ate much better – making conscious choices NOT to eat as much. When I weighed in on Monday, I was down a little bit, and hope to be down even more next Monday. As predicted, I did a lot of yard work on Sunday. And I’ve found a new walking route… My daughter has lacrosse practice Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the elementary school, which as a 1/2 mile loop. This week, I walked 4 miles both nights while she was practicing. My Movement: Friday: 26 minutes walking Saturday: none Sunday: 3.5 hours yard work + 32 minutes walking Monday: 47 minutes walking Tuesday: 63 minutes walking Wednesday: 45 minutes walking Thursday:  50 minutes BodyFlow + 60 minutes walking Questions for YOU! Thanks to all those who left comments last week about the quarterly prize. For those who didn’t, it’s not too late! As you all know, I’m hosting the second quarter #FitReaders and am responsible for the prizes awarded at the end of June. I’m wondering what to offer up as a prize and want input for you folks! I need something that can be sent anywhere – we have international participants. It can’t be too heavy or expensive, but fun, enjoyable, etc. Of course, one option is a gift card – it could be to Amazon or Barnes & Noble, or someplace else. I could do water bottles, t-shirts, headbands, etc. What do you think? Leave me some suggestions, please. I’ll look into it and then come back later with my follow up. How was your week? Did you hit any milestones? Try a new food or workout? Celebrate your week with...

Or, if you want to use this post as your weekly check-in, leave a comment telling us how your week went!  My Week: I am happy to report that all the snow in my yard has melted!! While there are still piles in shady places around town, there is none in my yard. The crocuses are finally blooming, and I am seeing some green. Of course, with all of the snow gone, I am left with a very messy yard. I think some intensive yard work is in my workout schedule this weekend! As for my health and well-being, it’s a mixed bag. I gained weight for the third week in a row (but still below my goal weight), even though I was able to get outside and move. I’ve noticed that my walks, while longer, are also slower, so that means fewer calories burned sometimes. And it really goes back to the junk food and snacking that I talked about last week. So I’m making a conscious effort to cut back on the extras. So far, it seems to be helping. My Movement: Friday: none Saturday: 33 minutes walking Sunday: 30 minutes walking Monday: 45 minutes walking Tuesday: 86 minutes walking Wednesday: 62 minutes walking Thursday:  45 minutes BodyFlow + 30 minutes walking Questions for YOU! As you all know, I’m hosting the second quarter #FitReaders and am responsible for the prizes awarded at the end of June. I‘m wondering what to offer up as a prize and want input for you folks! I need something that can be sent anywhere – we have international participants. It can’t be super heavy or wicked expensive, but fun, enjoyable, etc. Of course, one option is a gift card – it could be to Amazon or Barnes & Noble, or someplace else.
