#FitReaders Check-In: April 3, 2015

#FitReaders Check-In: April 3, 2015 Welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group during 2015. Or, if you want to use this post as your weekly check-in, leave a comment telling us how your week went!  My Week: I had a pretty good week overall. I was outside a lot, even when we got some surprise SNOW on Saturday! Luckily today it was sunny and 55, and I was able to walk without a full winter coat! The sunshine really lifted my spirits. I’m back to thinking about getting a FitBit, but honestly, I don’t know that it would help me do more than what I do now. It may  be fun to check my daily steps, but I my goals revolve around moving and walking for a specific amount of time, so I don’t need to know my step count. Thoughts? #FitReaders – Commit to Exercise for April 2015

#FitReaders – Commit to Exercise for April 2015 Welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group for 2015. During the months of April – June, 2015, I am hosting the official check-ins and quarterly giveaway. It is time to Commit to Exercise for April 2015! Whether you are just joining us, need to get back on the wagon, or continuing your monthly progress, now is the time to stand up and say “I’m in! I’m committed to getting up and getting moving!” So are you ready to commit to fit? Remember there will be weekly check-ins on Fridays both here and at Felicia’s blog, motivation on twitter (#FitReaders), and a group over on Facebook (let me know if you want to be added). Let’s get this month started by adding your link down below. Everyone who commits to exercise using the linky during April, May, and June will be entered to win some sort of FABULOUS PRIZE. My Goals: My overall goals for 2015 are to keep up my current level of exercise, maintain my goal weight, and log my food intake every day for the year. I also want to add some races in once the weather warms up. As for April 2015, my primary goal is to make sure I continue get out and move. I plan to move with purpose for 30 minutes each day, taking off no more than one day per week. I also want to take one BodyFlow (yoga) Class per week. Please feel free to check-in with a comment here as well! My Week: This week was much better than last week both physically and mentally. We had a few sunny days and even a couple of warm moments. I had a WONDERFUL day skiing with my kids – sunny, 50 and no lines! I also got in another BodyFlow class. I’m feeling a little recharged. Now I need to carry this momentum into April. I can’t believe we are already three months into 2015! Please feel free to check-in with a comment here as well! My Week: Well, this week was a rough one for me. I’ve been letting work, kids, life… get me down. In addition, the weather has been a monsoon around here, making it tough to walk. But the bottom line is: I’m not taking care of myself. For the first time in over 14 months, I missed three days of exercise in one week. I was ready to skip out on Thursday as well, but then I “forced” myself to go to BodyFlow – something I’ve been wanting to do for a couple months now. I am SOOOOO glad I did. Not only was it a great yoga/Pilates class, but it centered me. Now I’m ready to tackle another week! Please feel free to check-in with a comment here as well! My Week: Are you feeling like me… just barely make it? Getting through the day and feeling like nothing got done? Wondering where all the time went? Lately I’m feeling very overwhelmed. In the past when this would happen, I’d bury myself in comfort food and hide myself away indoors focusing on everything that’s “wrong.” While I have been overeating those Girl Scout cookies, raw cookie dough, popcorn, and other junk, I have made a big effort to continue to get outside and walk. The sunshine (WOO HOO!) makes the days seem better, and listening to my audiobook while walking and getting away from everything for 30-40 minutes has made a big difference in my ability to deal with “life.” Taking charge of one thing I can control – my body – helps center me a little bit each day. I hope that you too can find some peace of mind and heart! Please feel free to check-in with a comment here as well! My Week: Back home a whole week, and my body and brain are feeling it. This has been a very busy week for me and the kiddos – so coming off vacation was extra tough. But I managed to get my walking / workouts in, and that helped a lot mentally. Also, I am happy to report that after being away for almost two weeks, I’ve maintained my weight and holding strong at my goal! That is a huge win! Coming up in March, my goals are more of the same. I still want to add a weekly Body Flow/yoga class, but things are so crazy right now, I’m not going to force it. I just need to keep moving and get myself though this cold weather! Please feel free to check-in with a comment here as well! My Week:  What a week this has been! My family and I have been fortunate enough to spend the week in Florida at my folks’ home. They reside in Ft. Myers, plus we took a mini-vacation to Key Largo to go snorkeling. It’s been so nice to not see any snow. My mom is a big walker, so she and I have managed to get in some great walks while I’ve been here. I’m not happy to be heading home today (Friday)… which is also my birthday! Please feel free to check-in with a comment here as well! My Week: Well my week started with, you guessed it… SNOW! We got an additional 20 inches of snow on Saturday night. It also snowed during the week. And the temperatures have barely climbed above 0F with the windchill. It’s gotten to the point that I actively avoid the forecast, and the weather has driven me to tears. On the plus side, I got in a lot of shoveling for exercise. But it’s all better now because I am ON VACATION IN FLORIDA!! The family and I are visiting my folks and enjoying some sun. They have an amazing nature trail near their condo, and I am taking full advantage. I’m hoping this trip will lift my spirits and rejuvenate my soul. Please feel free to check-in with a comment here as well! My Week: The end of last week and over the weekend, I enjoyed some amazing book time at the Coastal Magic Con in Daytona, Florida. In only its third year, the con is remarkably well-run and so much fun. I highly recommend the trip next February! While there, I was able to get outside every morning with Liza (@MsLizaLou) and Jeffe Kennedy to get in our walking. Not to mention, the constant moving – I was well over 10,000 steps each day, which is probably why, even though I ate a lot, I didn’t gain any weight! Back home – you guessed it… more snow. It’s unreal. Everyone here is so down and frustrated with the snow. And guess what’s coming on Sunday? #FitReaders Check-In: Feb. 6, 2015 Welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group for the upcoming year. Please feel free to check-in with a comment here as well! My Week: I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed and flustered right now. First – MORE SNOW at the beginning of the week meant kids at home and more shoveling. The roads were bad, even once plowed, so walking wasn’t really a great option for an intense workout. Second – I’m on vacation! That’s right… a quickie trip to Coastal Magic Con in Daytona Florida. While I’m here, I’m getting my steps in with fellow #FitReaders, but between the kids’ schedules and travel, I really haven’t been up to par. I missed THREE days this week, which means I did not make my goal. Third – the EATING! And that started back over the weekend with the Super Bowl! Oh well… I take it all in stride and do my best! This one week will not break me!
