#FitReaders Check-In: August 7, 2015

#FitReaders Check-In: August 7, 2015 Welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group during 2015. For the months of July – September 2015, Felicia will be hosting the official check-ins. This is my weekly check-in post where I share about my week, and I hope you share about yours as well. You can also catch Felicia’s weekly check-in HERE. If you have a weekly check-in blog post or put your updates on any social media site, please leave a link to your check-in posts in the comment section, below. Or, if you want to use this post as your weekly check-in, leave a comment telling us how your week went! My Week: One week into August, and I’m doing okay. When I weighed in at the beginning of the week, I was up a pound, but when I weighed in today, I was down a pound. I have been a bit more conscientious in my food/beverage choices, and while not perfect, I’ve been better this week. My daily exercise routine has stayed pretty much the same, which is good for now. I’ve noticed some aches and pains in my legs and hips… getting older sucks sometimes. I’m also adjusting to my blood pressure meds, which leave my lower legs feeling a little swollen. However, all-in-all, I’ve had a pretty good week. My Movement*: Friday: 30 minutes walking, 10,772 steps/day Saturday: 35  minutes walking, 10,231 steps/day Sunday: 58 minutes walking, 14,197 steps/day Monday: 45 + 36 minutes walking, 12,319 steps/day Tuesday: 62 minutes walking, 10,631 steps/day Wednesday: 43 minutes walking, 11,568 steps/day Thursday: 53 minutes BodyFlow, 57 minutes walking, 12,001 steps/day * I track two different goals. The first goal is a timed duration of exercise – moving with the intent to raise my heart rate and get in some cardiovascular work. This is what I’m mean when I say “45 minutes walking.” The second goal is total daily steps. This is from my Fitbit, which measures all steps from 12:00AM – 11:59PM, exercise included. Questions for YOU! How was your week? Did you hit any milestones? Try a new food or workout? Celebrate your week with...

#FitReaders Check-In: July 31, 2015 Welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group during 2015. Or, if you want to use this post as your weekly check-in, leave a comment telling us how your week went! My Week: Here it is, the end of another month… How did your July go? Did you meet your goals? I didn’t have any special goals for specific to this month, other than my continuing weekly goals. Those goals are exercising 30 minutes/day for 6 days of the week, trying to reach 10,000 steps each day, plus logging all of my food each day. Overall, my month went well. This plan is working for me while I’m maintaining my current weight. I did gain 3.5 pounds over the month (lots of vacation time), but I’m still under my goal weight. Right now, I’m going to stick with this plan – working in my BodyFlow once a week when I’m home. My biggest focus at this point is trying to keep within a reasonable caloric intake. My Movement*: Friday: 65 minutes walking, 10,305 steps/day Saturday: 63  minutes walking, 10,497 steps/day Sunday: 60 + 43 minutes walking, 13,907 steps/day Monday: 60 minutes walking, 12,934 steps/day Tuesday: 60 minutes walking, 11,361 steps/day Wednesday: 30 minutes elliptical, 10,024 steps/day Thursday: 52 minutes BodyFlow, 60 minutes walking, 12,936 steps/day * I track two different goals. #FitReaders Check-In: July 24, 2015 Welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group during 2015. Or, if you want to use this post as your weekly check-in, leave a comment telling us how your week went! My Week: I love summer! But I’ve been so busy, I don’t think I’ve had time to stop and rest. Wait… I did go to the beach for a few hours on Wednesday! What I’m finding about summer is that it’s fairly easy to hit my daily step goal of 10,000 steps; however, I’m not doing my long/more intense walks like I did during the school/work year. I think that it’s okay because, generally, I’m moving a lot. I’m also still eating a lot. However, I did lose almost 2 of the “vacation pounds” my first full week back home. My Movement*: Friday: 51 minutes walking, 17,291 steps/day (afternoon at the fair!) Saturday: 55 minutes walking, 11,990 steps/day Sunday: 32 minutes walking, 12,144 steps/day Monday: 49 minutes walking, 11,275 steps/day Tuesday: 43 minutes walking, 13,179 steps/day Wednesday: 37 minutes elliptical, 15,963 steps/day Thursday: 55 minutes BodyFlow, 32 minutes walking, 11,035 steps/day * After a comment about my timed walking and the number of steps I record, I realized it might be confusing. I track two different goals. I hope that clarifies my movement data. Questions for YOU! How was your week? Did you hit any milestones? Try a new food or workout? Celebrate your week with...

Or, if you want to use this post as your weekly check-in, leave a comment telling us how your week went! My Week: I’ve been back home since Sunday evening. Our 2+ week vacation was great, but it’s so good to be home and getting our lives back on track – and it’s still summer vacation! I had my weigh-in on Monday, and I was up 4 pounds for the entire trip. I’m pleased with that because in the past, it would have been more (and I know this year, I’ll lose it within a couple weeks)! I exercised almost every day while I was gone (except, I did poorly the days we were in the car coming home). Since I’ve been back, my eating has been better, although I did splurge last night and went out with my girlfriend for margaritas! My workouts have been shorter than usual, but I’m getting my daily step average back up after low numbers for three days. My Movement*: Friday: 18 minutes walking, 7,967 steps/day Saturday: no exercise, 5,131 steps/day (car all day) Sunday: no exercise, 6,654 steps/day (car all day) Monday: 44 minutes walking, 13,062 steps/day Tuesday: 39 minutes walking, 11,442 steps/day Wednesday: 38 minutes elliptical, 10,155 steps/day Thursday: 55 minutes Body Flow, 36 minutes walking, 11,322 steps/day * After a comment about my timed walking and the number of steps I record, I realized it might be confusing. My Week: I’m STILL on VACATION!! We are finishing up the end of the second week, and my family be heading home (2 day car trip) starting Saturday. I’m happy to report that I’ve been able to mostly keep up some exercise and getting in great step counts, to including walking with my 9 year old girl (BG) in the annual Independence Day 2 mile run. I also did that 5 mile loop with the 450 stair climb in the middle again on Thursday. However, I’ve been eating WAY TOO MUCH, and actually have felt gross because of that. I am looking forward to getting back home and back to normal eating. My fitness week begins on Mondays, so I’ll report my trip weight gains next week, but I do know that I’m already up a few pounds. My Movement*: Friday: 43 minutes walking, 11,593 steps/day Saturday: 36 minutes walking, 14,090 steps/day Sunday: 37 minutes walking, 10,288 steps/day Monday: 71 minutes walking, 12,895 steps/day Tuesday: 44 minutes walking, 11,863 steps/day Wednesday: no exercise, 5,828 steps/day Thursday: 90 minutes walking, 15,207 steps/day * After a comment about my timed walking and the number of steps I record, I realized it might be confusing. My Week: I’m on VACATION!! The family and I left early Saturday morning, spent two days in the car, and arrived at my folks in Northern Michigan on Sunday afternoon. They live on a lake, and there is lots to do, including exercise and eating! Monday morning my sister and mom took me on a 5.5 mile round trip walk that included 450 steps up a hill in the middle. My calves are still sore! Other than the day I was in the car from 6:00AM to 6:00PM, I have managed to get in a walk. (We won’t discuss what I’ve been eating!) My Week:   Things are winding down here at home, this is the last day of school for my kiddos and next week is my last week of work until September. We have one more lacrosse tournament, a karate tournament, my MIL’s birthday, and Father’s Day. Then it is SUMMER VACATION! I’m hoping to find a couple of 5K races over the summer to keep me moving during the lazy days! The big news… I upgraded my Fitbit Flex to the Charge HR. I LOVE IT! I like having the added features such as heart rate, automatic sleep mode, and staircase climbs. I also like having the ability to read my steps and other goals right on my wrist, rather than having to get out my phone. The Fitbit and the iOS app that goes with it have really made a difference in my daily movement over the past two months. I’ve even lost a couple more pounds because of it! That’s a good thing, since I’ll be heading on a 2 week vacation at the end of the month! My Movement*: Friday: 30 minutes walking, 8,930 steps/day Saturday: 43 minutes walking, 13,286 steps/day Sunday: 46 minutes walking, 14,850 steps/day Monday: 60 minutes walking, 11,438 steps/day Tuesday: 31 minutes walking, 10,709 steps/day Wednesday: 47 minutes walking, 13,331 steps/day Thursday: 50 minutes Body Flow + 60 minutes walking, 14,000 steps/day * After a comment about my timed walking and the number of steps I record, I realized it might be confusing. Or, if you want to use this post as your weekly check-in, leave a comment telling us how your week went! My Week: My “week” started with a trip to Lori Foster’s Annual Reader Author Get Together. I attended the event in West Chester, OH, along with 500 other readers, authors, bloggers, and industry professionals. This was my fourth year attending. One of the great perks – getting to walk, drink, and dance with some of our #FitReader crew! For more of my photos from the event, check out my Facebook page. I did a great job getting in my steps, even while away, especially on Friday night when there was an awesome dance event. A few of us danced for about four hours, determined to hit 20,000 steps! Eating – well that wasn’t quite as good, as I did have a few too many servings of this and that. I was up a couple pounds at my weigh-in on Monday, but I know it will come off now that I’m back home. My Movement: Friday: 37 minutes walking, 21,294 steps Saturday: 39 minutes walking, 10,224 steps Sunday: no exercise, 6,789 steps Monday: 39 minutes walking, 10,097 steps Tuesday: 51 minutes walking, 12,924 steps Wednesday: no exercise, 12,108 steps Thursday: 35 minutes walking, 10,574 steps Questions for YOU! My Week: Thank you again, to those who helped push me last week, and even through the weekend, with the Fitbit Challenges. It truly made a difference – not only did I lose the temporary weight I gained over the long weekend, but I lost an additional pound! All the extra steps and movement helped me watch my caloric intake, which resulted in the very good week. Of course now I’m attending the Annual Reader Author Get Together hosted by Lori Foster, and I’ve already eaten well over my calories in the first day! However, I’m here with fellow #FitReader hostess, Felicia, and together we are getting in our walks and steps. I love being with my book buddies! My Movement: Friday: 62 minutes walking, 12,631 steps Saturday: 74 minutes walking, 15,496 steps Sunday: 56 minutes walking, 11,198 steps Monday: 51 minutes walking, 10,605 steps Tuesday: 73 minutes walking, 13,960 steps Wednesday: 31 minutes walking, 15,224 steps Thursday: 57 minutes walking, 12,200 steps Questions for YOU!
