#FitReaders Weekly Check-In: Jan. 23, 2015

#FitReaders Weekly Check-In: Jan. 23, 2015 Greetings 2015 and welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group for the upcoming year. During the months of January – March 2015, Felicia will host the official check-ins. You can catch this week’s post HERE. Please feel free to check-in with a comment here as well! My Week: This week was a good one. Busy, but good. Everyone here is healthy and happy, so I can’t complain. I got in my workouts and managed not to overeat last weekend when I was home alone with the kiddos. With the month almost over, I feel the need to find something new to add to my goals for next month. I really could use some help and motivation to try something new in either my workout or diet. Not because I want to lose weight, but rather to keep myself challenged and not become stagnant. Any suggestions? My Movement: Friday: 75 minutes downhill skiing (chaperoning ski club) Saturday: none Sunday: 46 minutes walking Monday: 60 minutes walking Tuesday: 76 minutes walking Wednesday: 30 minutes walking Thursday: 40 minutes walking How was your week? Did you hit any milestones? Try a new food or workout? Celebrate your week with us! What is #FitReaders? About Me: I used to be someone that was driven to work out. I never had a big weight problem for most of my life. However, during the early 2010’s, a number of things added up, and I found myself not exercising, eating a lot (struggling with emotional eating), and in a big funk. Thanks to Felicia and #BookBlogWalkers, I started my journey back to a healthier lifestyle on January 6, 2014. I started with the goal of moving with purpose for 10 minutes each day and tracking my food intake. As the days progressed, I was able to walk longer and even start...

#FitReaders Weekly Check-In: Jan. 15, 2015

#FitReaders Weekly Check-In: Jan. 15, 2015 Greetings 2015 and welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group for the upcoming year. During the months of January – March 2015, Felicia will host the official check-ins. You can catch this week’s post HERE. Please feel free to check-in with a comment here as well! My Week: Before I jump into my week, I just wanted to share something with you all. Last Friday, I had a very busy day and was feeling a bit off because I hadn’t been able to stick to my usual exercise routine. That night when I jumped online, I was absolutely blown away by all of the positive comments left not only here, but at Felicia’s blog and all of the other #FitReader posts I found. This really lifted my spirits. I LOVE what a great, positive group #FitReaders is, and I’m bless to be a part of it. PLUS – I’m making new friends to chat with about books! Thank you all!! As I get my family and myself into a routine, I find that my eating has also stabilized. I’m not as apt to snack or eat lots of extra food when we have our routine. This has helped me stabilize my weight back at a couple of pounds below my goal weight. I’ve also continued to get in my workouts, even though I’ve had to take it a bit slower out due to slippery road conditions. I just remind myself to keep moving, even if it’s slower – it still counts! Plus, if I broke something and couldn’t walk, I’d be devastated! I’m home alone with the kids this long weekend – I foresee some junk food binge eating… so if you see my on Twitter, be sure to check in on me and remind me to stay on track! 😉 My Movement: Friday: 30 minutes downhill skiing (chaperoning ski club) Saturday: 20 minutes elliptical Sunday: 40 minutes walking Monday: 48 minutes walking Tuesday: 75 minutes walking Wednesday: 45 minutes walking Thursday: 36 minutes walking How was your week? #FitReaders Weekly Check-In: Jan. 9, 2015

#FitReaders Weekly Check-In: Jan. 9, 2015 Greetings 2015 and welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group for the upcoming year. During the months of January – March 2015, Felicia will host the official check-ins. You can catch this week’s post HERE. Please feel free to check-in with a comment here as well! My Week: One week under our belts during this new year and BRRRRR! it’s cold outside. I have been continuing to walk outside (long underwear and wool socks!) until today, when the “real feel” temperature didn’t rise about zero! I find that I get bored exercising indoors – even with my audiobooks to listen to. Now that the holidays are over and my family is in a routine, I’m eating better, and I’m happy to report that I’ve taken off the extra pounds I put on over the holidays. I’m planning just to stay the course over the next few weeks, however I am thinking of trying to add some flexibility or core strengthening activities in February. What do you suggest? Oh, and the GPS app I use to record my workouts, MapMyFitness, tells me my next goal is to “make friends.” Apparently users of the app who have friends have better success. Their email made me laugh because I already have such a great support network here! But… if you use MapMyFitness and want to “friend” me (I don’t know how this works), I’m under the name Jen Twimom. My Movement: Friday: 41 minutes walking Saturday: 44 minutes walking Sunday: 25 minutes shoveling + 23 minutes walking Monday: 52 minutes walking Tuesday: 47 minutes walking Wednesday: 32 minutes walking Thursday: 30 minutes elliptical How did the holidays go for you? Did you make any New Year’s Resolutions? Are you trying any new foods and/or exercise programs? What is #FitReaders? #FitReaders Weekly Check-in: Jan. 2, 2015

#FitReaders Weekly Check-in: Jan. 2, 2015 Greetings 2015 and welcome to #FitReaders!! During the months of January – March 2015, Felicia will host the official check-ins. You can catch this week’s post HERE. Please feel free to check-in with a comment here as well! My Goals: My overall goals for 2015 are to keep up my current level of exercise, maintain my goal weight, and log my food intake every day for the year. I also want to add some races in once the weather warms up. As for January 2015, with the colder weather, my primary goal is to make sure I continue get out and move. My goal for January is to move with purpose for 30 minutes each day, taking off no more than one day per week. In addition, I will log my food/caloric intake each day using the LostIt! app. My Week: Well, it’s only the second day of the month, and so far I’m doing okay! I’ve only gained a pound or two over the holidays and am still under my goal weight of 155 lbs. I’ve not been super careful about what I’ve been eating, but I’ve made sure to keep exercising. My Movement: December 2014 Friday: 31 minutes walking Saturday: 15 minutes walking Sunday: 55 minutes walking Monday: 52 minutes walking Tuesday: 31 minutes walking Wednesday: none January 2015 Thursday: 58 minutes walking How did the holidays go for you? What’s Coming in 2015

What’s Coming in 2015 I am super excited about 2015! I’ve joined some reading/listening challenges, added some new weekly features, and will be co-hosting #FitReaders with The Geeky Blogger. I’m in the process of organizing my blog to showcase the new features. You’ll see new titles in the top menu and new buttons on the sidebar. Here’s more about what’s in store for 2015… GoodReads Reading Challenge This year I’ll be participating in the GoodReads reading challenge once again. I count all books – novels and novellas (as long as published as a separate book), and all formats – audiobooks, paperbacks, hardcovers, and ebooks! I’ve challenged myself to 130 books, which is 5 more than I finished in 2014. Where you’ll find it: Once it is available, I’ll post the 2015 GoodReads widget on my sidebar. You can also find me on GoodReads. 2015 Audiobook Challenge This one is new for me! Now that I’m a big fan of audiobooks, I’ve joined the 2015 Audiobook Challenge hosted by The Book Nympho & Hot Listens. I’ve signed up at the My Precious Level (I had my earbuds surgically implanted): 30-50 audiobooks during the year. I’ll be posting quarterly updates, if not more frequently. Where you’ll find it: Posts will have this awesome button, which I’ve also included on my sidebar, so you too can sign up! Also, you’ll see there is a new link for Audiobook Challenge Updates. Those will be posted at least quarterly. Listen Up! Oh, I am super excited about this! In 2015, I’m starting a new blog feature entitled Listen Up! (thank you Book Nympho for the name suggestion!). The weekly feature will come to you every Thursday and will focus on audiobook reviews, narrator interviews, guest posts from other audiobook listeners, etc. Where you’ll find it: I’ll have fresh posts every Thursday right here at the blog. Plus, I’ve got a new menu option in the top menu and a button on the sidebar. #FitReaders I can’t believe it’s almost the end of 2014! I started my #BookBlogWalkers journey on January 6, 2014 with two simple goals – track my food/drink intake and move with purpose for 10 minutes each day. Almost one year later and I’m walking on average over 40 minutes per day (45 minutes per workout)!!! I’ve lost 25 pounds and achieved my goal weight – maintaining since September. I’m so proud of myself when I look at where I was a year ago. And I honestly could not...
