Granite State Authors: Shannon Stacey

Granite State Authors: Shannon Stacey Periodically during 2017, I’m going feature authors from my home state, New Hampshire. We may be a small state, but we are BIG on talent. Please share and follow along with #GraniteStateAuthors, and join me in celebrating these wonderful… Just the Facts: Author: Shannon Stacey Bio: New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Shannon Stacey lives with her husband and two sons in New England, where her favorite activities are writing romance and really random tweets when she’s not driving her RZR off-road. She loves mud, books, football & watching way too much TV. Links: Website / Twitter / Facebook / Instagram Quick Questions: How long have you lived in New Hampshire?  I’ve lived in New Hampshire several times, but I moved here for the final time a little over twenty-five years ago. My husband was born and raised here, and both of our sons were born here, so New Hampshire is definitely home. (Though I’m from Massachusetts and keep that flatlander flame burning in my heart.) Does living here in NH provide inspiration for your writing? Definitely, but it goes deeper than the beauty of the state and the variety it offers as a setting. I’ve lived a lot of places (Air Force kid) and New Englanders are just my kind of people. And those are the people I want to write about, showing their lives and families along with their journeys to happily ever after. Do you use New Hampshire and/or New England as a setting in any of your books? Most of my books take place in New England. The Kowalski Family series is split between New Hampshire and Maine. My Boys of Fall series was set in northern New Hampshire, and the Boston Fire series is set in Massachusetts. Whether I want woods and mountains, cities or the ocean, New England brings it. What is your favorite time of year in NH and why? There’s always a brief window when I love spring, because hibernation time is over and we get to open camp and see our friends after a long, cold winter. But autumn is my favorite time of year. After a hot summer of riding dry and dusty ATV trails, the cool fall days are the best for four-wheeling. The bugs are gone, there are puddles to splash through, and the leaves are pretty. Quick Questions: How long have you lived in New Hampshire?  I moved to New Hampshire from Massachusetts in 2011. Does living here in NH provide inspiration for your writing? It does. My office overlooks the woods and the Lamprey River. I love to travel, so that gives me a lot of inspiration for my books, but having a beautiful view while I write helps a lot, too. Do you use New Hampshire and/or New England as a setting in any of your books? Mati from Between Everything and Us is from Maine. She’s the first character from New England that I’ve written. I have a new project that’s inspired by my summers in New Hampshire and Massachusetts that I’m excited to be working on. What is your favorite time of year in NH and why? I’m cheating and answering the both the summer and fall. I enjoy New Hampshire summers because I spend most of my time at Lake Winnipesaukee and in the White Mountains hiking. And of course I love the fall here in New Hampshire because the air is just full of this magical spark. There’s something about those cool autumn nights and the changing leaves. It’s gorgeous. Links: Twitter : Goodreads : Website : Pinterest Instagram : FaceBook : Google + : Triberr Quick Questions: How long have you lived in New Hampshire?  I moved here in 1994 from Wisconsin, via NYC. When I got married in 1987, my husband was relocated to Superior, WI and I moved there the day after we got hitched. When my daughter turned 5, my husband and I wanted her to be closer to her family so we moved to New Hampshire. Only 4 hours to NYC instead of an all day plane ride from Wisconsin. Does living here in NH provide inspiration for your writing? I’ll say it does! I’m currently writing a new series of three sisters who are all in the wedding industry and who are based in a tiny town in NH. Granite State Authors: Ana E Ross

Granite State Authors: Ana E Ross Periodically during 2017, I’m going feature authors from my home state, New Hampshire. We may be a small state, but we are BIG on talent. Please share and follow along with #GraniteStateAuthors, and join me in celebrating these wonderful… Just the Facts: Author: Ana E Ross Bio: Hi, I’m Ana E Ross, a New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author. I was born and raised on the small Caribbean island of Nevis, where I began indulging in romance novels at a very early age, and consequently got hooked on the Happily Ever After theory. I always knew that I was born to be a writer, but after years of trying to break into traditional publishing, I set that dream aside to teach Writing and Literature in Middle and High schools. Thank goodness for self-publishing, that finally gave me the opportunity for my voice to be heard and my stories to reach millions of readers across the globe. I self-published my first short story in December 2011, and then two more in early 2012. It wasn’t until May 2012 when I released The Doctor’s Secret Bride – Book One, in my Billionaire Brides of Granite Falls series that my writing career took off. I resigned from teaching in 2013 and have since self-published the other four book in that series: The Mogul’s Reluctant Bride, The Playboy’s Fugitive Bride, The Tycoon’s Temporary Bride, and With These Four Rings. I have also published Loving Yasmine and Desire’s Chase – Books 1 & 2 in my Beyond Granite Falls series—a spinoff of my Billionaire Brides series—and I’m currently working on Pleasing Mindy – Book 3. Although the characters in the two series are connected, each book can be read as a single title, and out of order, as well. However, reading them in order would produce a more enjoyable reading experience as all the characters grow and learn with each installment. Next on my list is my Billionaire Island Brides series that feature—once again—sexy alpha males and strong beautiful women. The sky’s the limit when it comes to my writing career. I presently reside in New Hampshire, and I have one child: a beautiful daughter who’s making her own place in the world. She has been my inspiration for pushing forward and reaching for my goals. I love travel, tennis, yoga, meditation, and everything Italian. I’m always eager to make new friends and meet new readers, so give me a shout-out at http://www.anaeross.com...

Granite State Authors: Clair Brett Periodically during 2017, I’m going feature authors from my home state, New Hampshire. We may be a small state, but we are BIG on talent. Please share and follow along with #GraniteStateAuthors, and join me in celebrating these wonderful… Just the Facts: Author: Clair Brett Bio: Dragon keeper and historical romance author, Clair Brett lives in NH with her hard working husband, and two teenaged daughters. Her office staff during the day consists of Cinta, a black cat and the matriarch of the fur babies, Mojo, a yellow kitten who spends his day holding Clair down in her seat to get her word count in, a boxer/beagle mix puppy named Willow, who sleeps next to her chair to make it hard to do an Oreo run without doing a pee run as well, a hermit crab who keeps to himself, and a bearded dragon, who is kind of upper management. A former middle and high school English teacher, Clair has had a lifetime love affair with reading. Once she read Pride and Prejudice as an extra read in high school, she was hooked. Clair began pursuit of publication when she was a new mother in need of a hobby. Her oldest daughter will be graduating in 2017, so you do the math. Clair is a firm believer that a reader finds a piece of who they are or learns something about the world with every book they read. Does living here in NH provide inspiration for your writing? I live in Northern NH and even lived in the Northern Most town in NH (Pittsburg) for 15 years, so up here we are a very hardy lot, and for many people subsistence living is still a reality, so when I write my historicals, I can actually relate to how a person would have lived before central heat, or how they would pick berries, fish, hunt, etc. to survive, so yes I get inspiration from there, but I am not...

Granite State Authors: Diana Rubino

Granite State Authors: Diana Rubino Periodically during 2017, I’m going feature authors from my home state, New Hampshire. We may be a small state, but we are BIG on talent. Please share and follow along with #GraniteStateAuthors, and join me in celebrating these wonderful… Just the Facts: Author: Diana Rubino Bio: I’m a self-confessed history nut, my favorite eras being Medieval and Renaissance England, and all American history. I’ve written several novels set in England and the U.S., two time travel romances, a vampire romance, and an urban fantasy, FAKIN’ IT which received a Top Pick award from Romantic Times. I’m a longtime member of Romance Writers of America and the Richard III Society. In my spare time, I bicycle, golf, play my piano and devour books of any genre. Links: Visit Diana at www.dianarubino.com : www.dianarubinoauthor.blogspot.com : Twitter @DianaLRubino Quick Questions: How long have you lived in New Hampshire?  My husband Chris and I moved here in 1989, and we’re in the same Hudson neighborhood, original owners in the Village at Barrett Hill. Does living here in NH provide inspiration for your writing? Yes! I have a ritual of sitting on Hampton Beach with a notebook and pen, and plotting out my next book. Do you use New Hampshire and/or New England as a setting in any of your books? My latest title, a time travel romance, Dark Brew, is set on Cape Cod. But I’ve always wanted to write a historical ghost story set in Portsmouth and the Isles of Shoals, both very haunted places. What is your favorite time of year in NH and why? Fall is my favorite; there’s nowhere as beautiful as NH in the fall—the leaves are spectacular, summer’s heat is gone, and the juicy Honey Crisp apples are ripe for picking right off the trees. Featured Work: Diana recently released The New York Saga (August 11, 2016; The Wild Rose Press, Inc), three books in a digital box set. Poverty, Prejudice and Murder Won’t Stand in the Way of True Love The New York Saga spans three generations of the McGlory family, starting in 1894 amidst the poverty and crime on New York’s Lower East Side, through the wild, boozy years of Prohibition, and ending in 1963 as the country mourned President Kennedy’s assassination. In Book One, FROM HERE TO FOURTEENTH STREET, it’s 1894 on New York’s Lower East Side. Irish cop Tom McGlory and Italian immigrant Vita Caputo fall in love despite their different upbringings. In Book Two, BOOTLEG BROADWAY, it’s 1932. Prohibition...

A little nutty, a little flaky, but basically sweet, wanting only to give her readers a satisfying experience. She holds a degree in behavioral sciences, worked as a psychiatric RN for 15 years and spent a few more years working for the American Red Cross. Kind of. I have written a witch series set in Portsmouth called Love Spells Gone Wrong. There used to be a new age store called The Mustard Seed. Now my inspiration has closed. ☹, I like to use a variety of settings. My mass market paperbacks take place in Boston. Do you use New Hampshire and/or New England as a setting in any of your books? Yes and many places I’ve visited. The only place I wrote about and never visited was Romania. What is your favorite time of year in NH and why? You might be surprised to hear me say Summer, because of the conference I put on in October called Fall in Love with New England, but that’s the truth. I love sunshine and warmth. Fall was my father’s favorite time of year. I always think of him when the leaves change color and the air turns cool and crisp.
