Saturday Conversations: Sunday Snippets & Book Reviews

Saturday Conversations: Sunday Snippets & Book Reviews Updates to the Book Review Policy With the new year and still fairly new format and design, I’ve been thinking about other areas that could use a facelift and update. One such place is my BOOK REVIEW POLICY page. While the overall policy has not changed significantly, I’ve updated it here and there to more accurately reflect the titles and genres we review here at That’s What I’m Talking About. I’ve also made an adjustment to the necessary lead times needed to get books on the schedule. These days, I’m am scheduling about three months in advance, which can have challenges, especially when a release date gets moved, or we...

Saturday Conversations: It’s My Blogiversary!

Saturday Conversations: It’s My Blogiversary! Turning FOUR! This coming Tuesday, January 28, 2014, That’s What I’m Talking About turns four years old! I cannot believe it! If I do my math correctly, today’s post will be number 1,599! That’s a lot of reviews, guest posts, Sunday Snippets, Saturday Conversations, author interviews, book cover celebrations, contests, and winners! A few of my favorite features from the first four years include: The joint “We Love Gena” event that Bells and I ran back in May 2010: This was my first major event. Bells and I were so excited, and we went on and on about it all over twitter. That’s when I got an email from Gena Showalter...

Saturday Conversations: Week in Summary

Saturday Conversations: Week in Summary What’s Going on… This week’s Conversation has a duel purpose. First, I want to highlight a couple of blog posts. Second, I want chat… This past week: This week was a busy one – isn’t that the way with holiday weeks? Between wrapping up work for a short week and getting last minute homework assignments in for the kids, and preparing for the Thanksgiving Holiday, I didn’t have a lot of time to blog. Although, I did really enjoy pulling together our joint review of Kicking It edited by Faith Hunter and Kalayna Price. If you haven’t checked it out, Kicking It is an anthology of short stories from nine...

Saturday Conversations: Winner Announced!

Saturday Conversations: Winner Announced! And the Winner is… Thank you so much to all that stopped by and left me comments about my new blog design. It’s been a week, and I’m still in love with the beautiful new look. There are a few tweaks that need to happen, but WOW! I just love it. The latest addition is that I now have a “blog button” on my sidebar if you are so inclined to share those at your own site. For those that may have missed the big announcement, I’ve got a new blog design, courtesy of Parajunkee Design. So without further ado, I’d like to announce the winner: a Rafflecopter giveaway...

Small Problems…

Small Problems… I’ve discovered I am having a problem with my blog feed which may cause readers problems getting to my blog. Those who attempt to click links that will take you to the full site, may instead see a “blank screen”. I am very sorry about this, and I am working on a solution. If you follow via email from Feedburner  – you will still get an email with the full post; however, if you attempt to link through to my blog, it won’t work. If you follow via BlogLovin – the feed will show up in your lists, but again, you cannot link through to the blog. There may...

Come back tomorrow to see the new Sunday Snippets logo as well. I’ve also got new graphics for reviewer signatures and author features. Here’s an example… I love the beautiful jewel tones … so...

Saturday Conversation: Booklikes

Saturday Conversation: Booklikes The New Kid in Town With the recent upheaval at GoodReads (documented here, here and here), the buzz on Twitter is now all about Booklikes. While I personally was not impacted by the recent changes made by GoodReads to some accounts, I felt maybe it was time to spread my wings and check out some of the other book review social media sites. When I first started reading and reviewing books, I joined Shelfari. I still use the site and enjoy the book shelf features. I like that I can tag books and share my reviews. It still is the primary place I keep track of my TBR list,...

Saturday Conversations: Archived Posts

Saturday Conversations: Archived Posts Publicizing old posts I’ve noticed a trend lately on twitter, and I’m not sure what to make of it. I’m seeing more and more tweets pushing “archived” blog posts. It started with one or two blogs, but now I seem to see these tweets coming from all directions. No matter what the posts are dubbed… all they are are recycled, old blog posts. Based on the way they are presented on Twitter, I’m guessing that there must be some sort of auto-generator or plugin that sends out the tweets – but I could be wrong. My guess is based on some of the archived tweets I’ve seen out there. While...
