Another rote answer. Another half-lie. “Do you ever get scared you’ll f*ck it up? Not to imply you ever would. But sounds like you walk a thin line.” I met her eyes. All the time, I wanted to say. Review: Lessons in Losing It by Jessica Peterson

Review: Lessons in Losing It by Jessica Peterson Lessons in Losing It Author: Jessica Peterson Reviewer: VampBard Rating: A What I’m Talking About: I’m not even going to pretend I’m confused by how awesome Jessica Peterson’s Lessons in Losing It was. It was fabulous. The fourth title in the Study Abroad series is—like the other books—able to be read as a standalone (although I suggest reading them in order because there are characters mentioned from previous titles and they make a bigger impact if you’ve read them). There’s a special place for authors who write books about hot soccer players. Choirs of angels sing there and inspire them to write more books. I’m super sad this is...

Cover Reveal & Spotlight: Lessons in Losing It by Jessica Peterson Just friends… That’s all soccer star Fred Ohr wants to be with Rachel Collins, the American student he meets at party in his adopted hometown of Madrid.  He’s looking for the real deal—someone who’ll stick around Spain for more than a semester—so he resolves to keep her at arm’s length.  Even if she is sexy as hell.  Smart.  And as crazy about sports as he is. Fred and Rachel’s connection is instant.  Intense.  He loves to cook breakfast for her.  She loves it...

Review: Lessons in Letting Go by Jessica Peterson

Review: Lessons in Letting Go by Jessica Peterson Lessons in Letting Go Author: Jessica Peterson Reviewer: VampBard Rating: B+ What I’m Talking About: NO! It can’t be over! I’ve been reading Jessica Peterson’s Study Abroad series, and I’ve adored it. While I might be a woman of a certain age, I could identify with the characters and I found myself rooting for the characters to overcome their conflict throughout the story. After I told some of the characters to pull their head out of their behind. I really liked coming back to Laura & Rhys’ story. We’ve caught glimpses of them through the first two titles in the series, and I’ve been champing at the bit to...

Review: Lessons in Gravity by Jessica Peterson

Review: Lessons in Gravity by Jessica Peterson Lessons in Gravity Author: Jessica Peterson Reviewer: VampBard Rating: A What I’m Talking About: Everyone deserves love. Everyone. No one can make you feel anything unless you let them. This feeling of empowerment was my take-away from Lessons in Gravity. The second title in Jessica Petersons’s Study Abroad series is packed with even more of the feels than the first. Although reading the first book isn’t necessary to become immersed in this storyline, it’s recommended only because the backstory of the secondary characters in the title make it that much more poignant. While we get to see more of Viv & Rafa, as well as Laura and her hot...

Review: Spanish Lessons by Jessica Peterson

Review: Spanish Lessons by Jessica Peterson Spanish Lessons Author: Jessica Peterson Reviewer: VampBard Rating: B+ What I’m Talking About: Spanish Lessons was good read. I finished the other night and needed to let it marinate. Ms. Peterson’s voice was authentic and engaging. Overall, I enjoyed the characters—especially at the end. Part of the reason I didn’t give this title an A rating is because there’s probably a generational gap or a regional difference, and I was confused by some of the usage. For example, ‘hookup’. Darlings, I graduated from high school in 1986. When we said ‘hook up’, we meant having sexy time. I understood, by context clues and world-building this was not the case....
