Review: Distilled by Deelylah Mullin

Review: Distilled by Deelylah Mullin Distilled (A Love Brothers Anthology) Author: Deelylah Mullin Reviewer: Una Rating: A- What I’m Talking About: Some of you know that I’m not a huge contemporary romance reader.  However, I found something new that I really enjoyed by fellow TWITA reviewer, Vampbard.  Her novella, Distilled, was something different, and I really enjoyed it. What I loved about this novella is that our main characters are survivors.  They both have suffered different traumatic issues and are on a forever road of recovery.  I liked how these scars were integral parts of them.  These imperfect characters found a perfect fit with each other.  The grittiness of these elements weighted the realism...

Review: Two Stories from the Legendary Consultants series by Abigail Owen

Review: Two Stories from the Legendary Consultants series by Abigail Owen A Ghost of a Chance (Moon, Mist & Magic Anthology) Legendary Consultants #2.1 This is a short and sweet story about Josey and Brice and what is really a second-chance at romance.  We haven’t met these characters before in the series, but their story is a quick and fun read. Gikany and Una liked that Josey and Brice had a history.  It made their connection and journey that much more believable.  The fact that Josey tries to hide her abilities (because who would believe she sees ghosts) makes sense, especially considering how sensitive she is.  Though it was short, we did enjoy the chemistry and romantic romp between them. ...

Review: Beauty and the Billionaire: The Wedding by Jessica Clare

Review: Beauty and the Billionaire: The Wedding by Jessica Clare Beauty and the Billionaire: The Wedding Author: Jessica Clare Reviewer: Nima Rating: A- What I’m Talking About: Beauty and the Billionaire is just fun.  Coming in at number eight in the series, it is not strictly necessary to have read the previous seven books and novellas of the Billionaire Boys Club series, the story does stand on its own.  Having said that, it is infinitely better if you have that background to fill out the characters and their motivations. I liked the characters, but I liked them already. This little romp, which I read easily on a hopper flight from Scranton to Atlanta, combines Christmas and a wedding. While...

Review: Take Me Home by Lorelie Brown

Review: Take Me Home by Lorelie Brown Take Me Home Author: Lorelie Brown Reviewer: B. Rating: B+ What I’m Talking About: Lorelie Brown is a new author for me, so I was excited to read her newest addition to the Belladonna Ink series. Keighley is a twenty-three-year-old accountant who isn’t exactly looking forward to Thanksgiving with the family. Though her mother is very supportive, her Christian fundamentalist aunt gives them both a lot of grief because Keighley is a lesbian. Fed up with the whole situation, the solution quickly becomes clear: bring a date to dinner. A Craigslist ad then leads her to the perfect “girlfriend” for the occasion. In contrast, Brooke is a twenty-four-year-old tattooist...

Review: When Snowflakes Fall & Like Fresh Fallen Snow by Tara Wyatt

Review: When Snowflakes Fall & Like Fresh Fallen Snow by Tara Wyatt When Snowflakes Fall (#1) Like Fresh Fallen Snow (#2) Author: Tara Wyatt Reviewer: Nima Ratings: B+ and B What I’m Talking About: I have a soft spot for novellas, especially holiday ones.  They are these little mini escapes in the midst of chaos; something I can start and finish while juggling shopping, baking, and obligations. They are a little reminder that sweets are not just cookies from the neighborhood exchange. Both of these holiday offerings are wonderfully sweet and fat-free. When Snowflakes Fall is the first of two stories about the twin Grayson brothers, Luke and Matt. I preferred Luke’s story over Matt’s, Like Fresh Fallen Snow, probably because...
