Review: Tripped Out by Lorelei James

Review: Tripped Out by Lorelei James Tripped Out Author: Lorelei James Reviewer: Jen Rating: C- What I’m Talking About: After leaving her well-paying corporate job, Stirling Gradsky took a chance and went into business with her brother. Now they own and operate High Society, a medicinal and recreational marijuana facility. Liam Argent has dedicated his life to understanding the chemical properties of marijuana and loves all the perks of working for High Society. But the constant head-butting and pranking with Stirling needs to end so they can grow the company. While I have enjoyed the other 1,001 Dark Night / Blacktop Cowboy stories, I felt Tripped Out was not on par with its predecessors. First,...

Review: Snowspelled by Stephanie Burgis

Review: Snowspelled by Stephanie Burgis Snowspelled Author: Stephanie Burgis Reviewer: Una Rating: A  What I’m Talking About: Snowspelled is a delightful and intriguing short introduction to a fascinating world.  The Harwood Spellbook series has hooked me, and I eagerly await the next story. Though only a novella, I was thoroughly captivated by Cassandra and the world she lives in.  Angland is an interesting twist on a historical England.  The rigid roles of men and women – the social rules – all beautifully contrasted with a stubborn and oddly magical woman, Cassandra.  In this world, men have and wield the magic while women are the political juggernauts.  However, it’s not only the politics of people...

Review: Strangehold by Rene Sears

Review: Strangehold by Rene Sears Strangehold Author: Rene Sears Reviewer: Una Rating: A- What I’m Talking About: Strangehold is a fascinating series debut.  I enjoyed this introduction to a world of witches and Faerie and look forward to more. Let me say first that this novella could have been a full novel.  There is such a rich world with fascinating characters and politics, some elements could have been stretched out a bit in the storytelling.  That being said, the story wasn’t lacking despite its shorter length.  In fact, I’d say the book had a succinct feeling – the story flowed and conveyed the twists and turns without a lot of embellishment.  I enjoyed Ms....

Grab your copy today! Too Close to Call Author: Tessa Bailey Reviewer: VampBard Rating: A What I’m Talking About: When we met Kyler Tate in Too Hard to Forget (Peggy & Elliott’s book) he seemed to be the sweet and innocent star on Elliott’s team. Um. Sweet and innocent are not words I would use to describe Kyler. That boy’s a dirty talker. And, he’s tenacious. That’s the thing that set’s Kyler apart from the norm. He knows what he wants—Bree—and he doesn’t...

Review + Blog Tour: Somehow, Some Way by Jennifer Probst

Review + Blog Tour: Somehow, Some Way by Jennifer Probst Somehow, Some Way Author: Jennifer Probst Reviewer: Jen Rating: B What I’m Talking About: Architect Brady Heart has been a series background character as a partner of Pierce Brothers Construction. In and out of different scenes, I’ve always seen Brady as a nice guy, good friend type of character; however, reading Somehow, Some Way, I got a whole new sense of who Brady is. He is a control freak and has some pretty “traditional” views of what he seeks in a marriage. And the man is ready to find that perfect wife to marry and raise his children, like yesterday. On the other hand, I feel we got a...

Review: Distilled by Deelylah Mullin

Review: Distilled by Deelylah Mullin Distilled (A Love Brothers Anthology) Author: Deelylah Mullin Reviewer: Una Rating: A- What I’m Talking About: Some of you know that I’m not a huge contemporary romance reader.  However, I found something new that I really enjoyed by fellow TWITA reviewer, Vampbard.  Her novella, Distilled, was something different, and I really enjoyed it. What I loved about this novella is that our main characters are survivors.  They both have suffered different traumatic issues and are on a forever road of recovery.  I liked how these scars were integral parts of them.  These imperfect characters found a perfect fit with each other.  The grittiness of these elements weighted the realism...

Review: Two Stories from the Legendary Consultants series by Abigail Owen

Review: Two Stories from the Legendary Consultants series by Abigail Owen A Ghost of a Chance (Moon, Mist & Magic Anthology) Legendary Consultants #2.1 This is a short and sweet story about Josey and Brice and what is really a second-chance at romance.  We haven’t met these characters before in the series, but their story is a quick and fun read. Gikany and Una liked that Josey and Brice had a history.  It made their connection and journey that much more believable.  The fact that Josey tries to hide her abilities (because who would believe she sees ghosts) makes sense, especially considering how sensitive she is.  Though it was short, we did enjoy the chemistry and romantic romp between them. ...
