Confessions of a book-a-holic

Greetings from Philadelphia! I am here for work – arrived on Sunday and will leave on Wednesday. It’s my first solo trip from my family and I admit: I’m loving it! Sure I miss my babies and hubby, but really… It’s so nice to have a big bed all to myself!

So what is everyone around me doing?? – They are going to dinners, drinkings, site-seeing (attending the conference, of course!). What do I want to do… sit in my quiet room all by myself and READ! It’s heaven! My first night here, I went to bed with my Kindle and read for 3 hours. I woke up and read for another 2 hours. It was heaven. I read in the car as we drove the the conference. I read before I feel asleep last night. I know it’s not MUCH different then when I’m home, but it feels better because I don’t have a family to take care of or a phone to answer. My internet connection has been spotty and I don’t have the distractions of Twitter, Facebook, etc.

So here is my real confession: I just uploaded my current read: Alyssa Day’s Atlantis Redeemed onto my “Kindle for PC” application. Now, I can read from my notebook in the middle of my conference and not really get caught! It’s like when you put the fun book behind the text book in school. I feel so sneaky! I’m a grown adult, but I am feeling like a teenager!

Okay, shhhh… I’ve got to go to the conference now. This will be our little secret, right?!

    *zips my lips* Promise I won’t tell! 😉 I used to do the same thing, and I’d probably do it now if I had a conference to attend. What can I say? I’m naughty too. haha

    Keep this up and I might have to break down and get a kindle. And if that happens, that means I have to get my hubby an iPhone first. Grr…. I hope he doesn’t follow your blog! Or are you posting this on FB too?
