Isn’t summer supposed to be about relaxing and having fun? Sure, I’ve got down the “having fun” part, but relaxing?! I think I’m busier now than during the school year when I’m working 2-3 days per week!
And reading — It’s not happening!! Take the book I’m reading now, The Lady of the Storm by Kathryne Kennedy. I am really enjoying it; at about the halfway mark, it’s reading like a 4 Star book. However, instead of reading about 50 pages per day, I’m reading 20 pages. I wanted to have the review for today and I’m not even close to finishing it! I blame it on the later sunset – more time playing outside. But honestly, I just don’t know where the time goes.
Falling behind in one book means somewhere, someplace, another review has to give. With so many great books coming up – ones that I WANT to read, even if I don’t have them for “official review” – I just don’t know what to do! I see my IAD Reading Challenge being axed again this month. Does that make me a bad person? I can’t even keep up with my own reading challenge. *sigh*
But I have accomplished some good things this summer.
The big news… I HAVE MY OWN DOMAIN NAME! That’s right, you can now find That’s What I’m Talking About at www.twimom227.com NO “blogspot” any longer. I’m very excited about this! If you have my button on your blog, please notice … an updated “button” with the new domain name is available.

I’ve also been running several contests. Currently I’ve got two great giveaways going on:
Open until July 30: What a Goddess Wants by Stephanie Julian … enter HERE
Open until Aug. 5: The Magic of Lavender ebook by Cate Masters … enter HERE
And next week, I’ll have even more books to giveaway, so please stop in again!

So life has been busy and fun… summer is in full swing and I’m tackling it head on. But there are consequences. Now… maybe I’ll go read for a while! What have you been up to this summer? What are you planning to do before fall arrives?
Reading in the summer with the small humans around is difficult. I’m behind a bit too.
Congrats on moving to your own domain! Have fun at AAD!!
I understand you perfectly. I was on vacation for 3 weeks and thought I could read more than I usually do during those days, just to realize I couldn’t even read half of it. Now my schedule is all behind and I’m pulling my hair. *breath in, breath out*
Congratulations of your new domain, YAY! And have lots of fun at AAD. I’m planing on going to the next one in NOLA.
I can’t wait to hear about the tattoo adventure, take lots of pictures for documentation. 🙂
Congrats on getting your own domain! I told you it would be easy peasy!
I don’t have little ones (my son is 12 and pretty self-sufficient) and I’m falling behind my reading also. It’s something about the sun being out past 8pm that makes me not want to be inside. And forget about trying to read during the weekend. In the mornings I go to the gym, run errands. Then I fix breakfast. Once I have a chance to sit and relax, I have to hop in the shower because we’re going to someone’s houe for a cookout. It’s summer. We have to enjoy it. Even if our reading has to suffer.
No comment on the IAD Reading Challenge. I am so far behind. It’s ridiculous.
I say get the tattoo! I’ll be there to hold your hand. It’s not too bad. I have two, want to get a 3rd one. I may get mine while at AAD as well.
Congrats on the move to your own domain. Exciting!
As for AAD I am also going am at a loss for costume ideas. Too be honest, I don’t think I’m going to dress up but I am looking forward to what everyone else is wearing. I hope that I’ll get to meet you.

I, too, am behind. Which is sad since I work for you! =) It means I’m not helping as much as I should…I could blame Gikany…but really, it’s me. I know my problem is not just my little one, it’s the complete change in my family and evening routines. Maybe things will get better when summer is over.
As for the costume…I was thinking you could watch Wild West…pull something western with the steampunk edge in. Like slacks, loose button-down white shirt, bandana and a “utility” belt because you are “tinker-er”. If my mom was still here, TwiMom…I’d ask her and she’d know exactly what to do. But I think if you go western era steampunk…might be easier than more historical Victorian steampunk.
Woot! I am going casual for costumes at AAD. I too do not want to spend too much on clothes. Lots of black is my plan 🙂
As for reading, I am going even slower then you. Something about summer sucks time.
