About the book:
There is nothing average about these girls…
Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other 20-something girls-with one tiny exception: they’re products of a backfired curse that has given each of them unique powers that make them, well, a little weird…
The Wird sisters are different from every race on earth-human and supernatural. When human society is no longer an option for them, they move in among the resident vampires, werebeasts, and witches of the Lake Tahoe region. Could this be the true home they’ve longed for? Um, not quite. After the sisters accidentally strip a witch of her powers in a bar brawl, they soon realize the mistake will cost them. Because to take on a witch means to take on her coven. And losing the battle isn’t an option.
What G & U are talking about:
Gikany and Una love to find new series. This novella is a prequel to the new Weird Girls series by Cecy Robson. Gikany was smart and read it before the first book in the series, Sealed with a Curse (see our review later today) while Una read it after (since she is the one who found it…*Gikany claims she found and downloaded it before Una sent it to her*). This novella isn’t necessary to read first, but it does give a splendid introduction to the world and our main characters, the Wird sisters; Celia, Taran, Shayna, and Emme.
The Weird Girls is a fascinating new world of magic, vampires, shapeshifters and more. What is really helpful is Ms. Robson’s website that gives backgrounds on the world and characters along with illustrations. What makes this story so enjoyable are the characters. The different personalities of the sisters, the humor and wit and the plot are all woven together spectacularly.
Our only complaint is that we felt The Weird Girls was a little too short. We are introduced to the sisters and given a bit of their background. However, it just felt too short and we were left wanting more. Which is okay if you are just starting since Sealed with a Curse is out.
If you are looking for something new and want a small taste of the Wird girls….please check out The Weird Girls: A Novella.
