Saturday Conversations

October 2014 summary

Back at the beginning of the new year, I listed my 2014 reading and blogging goals. I plan to post monthly updates on my goals as one of my Saturday Conversation posts near the end/beginning of each month.

  1. GoodReads Reading Challenge… 100 Books.
    In October 2014 I finished 14 books:
Book #89: Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs (September 28, 2014)* finished after my September summary post
Book #90: Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs (October 1, 2014)
Book #91: Black Spring by Christina Henry (October 2, 2014)
Book #92: Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs (October 3, 2014) – Audiobook
Book #93: River Marked by Patricia Briggs (October 7, 2014) – Partial Audiobook
Book #94: Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews (October 11, 2014)
Book #95: Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs (October 14, 2014) – Audiobook
Book #96: Primal by Sasha White (October 15, 2014)
Book #97: Tempted by Midnight by Lara Adrian (October 16, 2014)
Book #98: The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires by Molly Harper (October 21, 2014) – Audiobook
Book #99: Archangel’s Shadows by Nalini Singh (October 23, 2014)
Book #100: The Alpha and Omega Prequel Novella by Patricia Briggs (October 24, 2014)
Book #101: Seventh Grave and No Body by Darynda Jones (October 28, 2014)
Book #102: Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs (October 30, 2014) – Audiobook

I have completed over 100 books already!! I am so excited! 19 of the books were either partial or all audiobooks. I admit it – I am addicted to audiobooks now!

  2. Reading books off of my TRB pile instead of picking up new-to-me authors and series.
I continued to devour the Mercy Thompson series (from my TBR) and a Molly Harper book, which was also on my TBR.
  3. Featuring more LGBTQ authors and books on the blog.
In September 2014, we featured two reviews, one blog tour spot, and one author interview.
  4. Spending more time reading and less time tweaking the blog.
    Done. Read/listened to 14 books!
  5. Opening up Sunday Snippets to authors as a chance to spotlight his/her work.
This has REALLY taken off! All four Sunday Snippets in October were submitted directly by the authors and/or publicists, and we are currently booked up all the way into mid-January!
  6. Continue Saturday Conversations Posts, but open them up.
As I wrote in my post dated March 15, 2014, I’m dropping the weekly Saturday Conversations post. Other than my monthly update, there are no Saturday Conversations for now.

I’ve also been participating in the #BookBlogWalkers challenge hosted by Felicia The Geeky Blogger. I do weekly updates on this goal HERE, but I’ll also do monthly updates with my monthly goal updates.

My goal for October was continue moving with purpose for 30 minutes for at least 5 days per week, with no more than 1 day off per week, but also to jog/walk at least two days/week of my workout. I’ve also joined one “fitness challenge” on LoseIt! for October to track my food and exercise for every day in October

I did record and track all the food and exercise. I also made my goal of walking/moving with purpose each week, with no more than one day off per week. While I’ve been doing some jogging – I can walk/jog over 4 miles! – I didn’t always do it twice per week. But I’m okay with that. I’m getting out and moving, and that is the important thing.

The big news is that the reached my goal weight and have maintained it for over four weeks now. That is a big plus!

Coming up for November, I plan to continue my goal of walking/moving 30 minutes/day for a minimum of five days per week with only one day off per week, with the addition of walking/jogging, when I can during the week (1 or 2 times/week). I also plan to continue to track my food. It will be interesting to see how that goes with the cooling weather.

So how did YOUR October go? Did you accomplish any goals? Did you set any new ones? Did you read a great book?

Thanks for stopping by to chat!

Great job on keeping your goal weight for FOUR weeks. That is awesome. I’m so glad we have converted you to an audiobook fan. By the way, Molly Harper’s books are GREAT on audio. She uses the same narrator for all her series and they are a great team.
