Greetings 2015 and welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group for the upcoming year. During the months of January – March 2015, Felicia will host the official check-ins. You can catch this week’s post HERE. Please feel free to check-in with a comment here as well!

My Week:

Before I jump into my week, I just wanted to share something with you all. Last Friday, I had a very busy day and was feeling a bit off because I hadn’t been able to stick to my usual exercise routine. That night when I jumped online, I was absolutely blown away by all of the positive comments left not only here, but at Felicia’s blog and all of the other #FitReader posts I found. This really lifted my spirits. I LOVE what a great, positive group #FitReaders is, and I’m bless to be a part of it. PLUS – I’m making new friends to chat with about books! Thank you all!!

As I get my family and myself into a routine, I find that my eating has also stabilized. I’m not as apt to snack or eat lots of extra food when we have our routine. This has helped me stabilize my weight back at a couple of pounds below my goal weight. I’ve also continued to get in my workouts, even though I’ve had to take it a bit slower out due to slippery road conditions. I just remind myself to keep moving, even if it’s slower – it still counts! Plus, if I broke something and couldn’t walk, I’d be devastated!

I’m home alone with the kids this long weekend – I foresee some junk food binge eating… so if you see my on Twitter, be sure to check in on me and remind me to stay on track! 😉

My Movement:
Friday: 30 minutes downhill skiing (chaperoning ski club)
Saturday: 20 minutes elliptical
Sunday: 40 minutes walking
Monday: 48 minutes walking
Tuesday: 75 minutes walking
Wednesday: 45 minutes walking
Thursday: 36 minutes walking

How was your week? Did you hit any milestones? Try a new food or workout? Celebrate your week with us!

What is #FitReaders?

We are a group of readers, bloggers, authors, etc. who come together with the common goal of adding some movement into our lives, getting healthy, and staying fit. You do not have to have a blog to join in. You can use the weekly check-in posts here or at The Geeky Blogger, a blog, Twitter, Facebook, or in a private, off-line journal to log your own journey. Just know that we are all in this together and here to provide support to one another. Look for the hashtag and join us! Click the image at the top of this post to sign up for January 2015.

About Me:

I used to be someone that was driven to work out. I never had a big weight problem for most of my life. However, during the early 2010’s, a number of things added up, and I found myself not exercising, eating a lot (and struggled with emotional eating), and in a big funk. Thanks to Felicia and #BookBlogWalkers, I started my journey back to a healthier lifestyle on January 6, 2014. I started with the goal of moving with purpose for 10 minutes each day and tracking my food intake. As the days progressed, I was able to walk longer and even start jogging. During 2014, I lost 25 pounds and reached my goal weight in September. Now I am working to keep the weight off and stay active. I find the best motivation for walking is a good audiobook and the support of my friends. Generally, I weigh-in once per week, on Mondays, and I’ll be writing weekly check in posts here on Fridays. Thanks for joining me in this journey! If you have any questions and don’t want to comment, please email me at twimom227 (at) gmail (dot) com. I’m also on LoseIt! with the user name Twimom227.

My Goals:
My overall goals for 2015 are to keep up my current level of exercise, maintain my goal weight, and log my food intake every day for the year. I also want to add some races in once the weather warms up.

As for January 2015, with the colder weather, my primary goal is to make sure I continue get out and move. My goal for January is to move with purpose for 30 minutes each day, taking off no more than one day per week. In addition, I will log my food/caloric intake each day using the LostIt! app.

  1. Awww! It’s nice to “meet” you via FitReaders, Jen! I’m so glad to hear that you’re trying to find some balance into your routine, and that you’re still keeping it up and willing to stay active. Good luck with the long weekend. 🙂

    • thanks Grace! It’s great to “meet” you as well! So far so good! LOL. I went skiing with the kids last night, but I think I’ll take today off. It’s below zero outside!

  2. It is great meeting other bloggers/readers in this challenge. It’s a nice way to stay motivated and to make new friends! You did really great and I hope you enjoy your long weekend!

    • Thanks Annie! I am feeling pretty good right now. I just need to keep this momentum going for the year! Last year was all about getting here. Now I need to stay! 🙂

  3. Carole

Good job this week! I didn’t reach my goals this week, but I was so busy from work. I did, however, manage to do something everyday, so I count that as one of my goals being accomplished. Yayy!

  4. Jennifer @ The Book Nympho

My back kept me down during the week but I got in some moving Friday and Saturday. I’ll get back on the workout wagon and do better next week as long as my back allows me.

  5. You had an awesome week, you totally squashed your 30 minute goal! I really think balance is the whole thing, so tracking the eating and the exercise together is a great mix. I really have to get on twitter with you all. I have yet to totally keep up with Twitter!

  6. Karen

I usually eat really well but kind of went off the rails with The Cheesecake Factory and P.F. Chang last week. All the junk food hit me yesterday and I felt sick but I regret nothing! lol

I love FitReaders too. It’s a nice supportive – no pressure group.

    • I understand what you mean! I ate way too much at a football watching party yesterday, but I won’t let that stop my great work! Just keep at it each day!
