This is the final check-in for the quarter!! I can’t believe we are already 6 months through 2015! How has your year gone so far? Have you kept up with your commitment to exercise? Have you had to make adjustments? Are you pleased with your progress so far, or a bit disappointed? It doesn’t matter where you are in your journey – we are all in this together!

My Week:

JPEG image-D3F44859FB4F-1This was my last week at work until the fall. I finished up my project and submitted it on time. I was able to get in some steps during the day by walking up and down the stairs and around the hallways while at work. However, midweek I hurt my hip a bit doing this, so I tried to take it a little easier while still reaching my daily step and exercise goals. Tomorrow (Saturday), I head on vacation – 2 full days in the car, so I expect the step count to be down over the weekend. While on vacation, I usually still go on my walks, but I spend a lot of time in/near the lake, so I won’t be wearing my Fitbit. I wonder how that will impact my day?!

My Movement*:
Friday: 34 minutes walking, 10,712 steps/day
Saturday: 61 minutes walking, 12,476 steps/day
Sunday: 53 minutes walking, 12,704 steps/day
Monday: 76 minutes walking, 14,075 steps/day
Tuesday: 50 minutes walking, 12,669 steps/day
Wednesday: 47 minutes walking, 10,734 steps/day
Thursday: 50 minutes Body Flow + 50 minutes walking, 15,017 steps/day

* After a comment about my timed walking and the number of steps I record, I realized it might be confusing. I track two different goals. The first goal is a timed duration of exercise – moving with the intent to raise my heart rate and get in some cardiovascular work. This is what I’m mean when I say “45 minutes walking.” The second goal is total daily steps. This is from my Fitbit, which measures all steps from 12:00AM – 11:59PM, exercise included. I hope that clarifies my movement data.

I’ve hit 610 miles walked in 2015 – and am officially at my lowest weight in four years – yay!! I’m four pounds away from being inside the top end of my ideal BMI. I *really* want to get there. Haven’t been for over ten years. Maybe 15. Eep.

When I have dive classes I can’t wear my fitbit. I needs to see all my fin kicks! I will have lots more steps!

My steps are way way off this week.

This week has had some major suckage. My ulcer added it’s little buddies ear and kidney infection to the lineup. I actually to my first sick day in several years on Tuesday. No gym or running since Monday.

So in my down time I have been planning my running schedule/training.

You are doing great!! Is there a way to bring the fitbit along with you but water proof it in a bag or something. When I was on vacation and went down to the pool, I took a bag with me (had my towel and goggles in it plus). When I took off my “coverup” I put it and my fitbit in it. After drying off, I put it back on. Plus, make sure to track/enter your swimming in so you get to count the calorie burn.

I’m happy that I’ve continued with the gym this week. Though I missed the gym yesterday, I did meet my step goal – even though I was doing laps around my house last night in order to meet them.

    • I’ve done those nighttime house circles too!! Every step counts, right?

I won’t be swimming that much, but being on the dock, boat, beach, and around the water in general… I don’t know if I will wear it for fear of it breaking. I may wear the older Flex, which is not as high tech.

    • Thanks Mary! The hip feels better, so I did get in all my steps for the week. However, I’ve been in the car for almost 10 hours so far today… I’m feeling tired and achy. I need to get out and move.

I’ve been working out anywhere between 15 – 30 minutes a day plus a 1 mile walk that the dogs make me do lol

It’s so hot that any day I move at all feels like a victory.

  5. Well, you’ve gone and done it. Seeing you guys at RAGT walking everywhere being all healthy and stuff… I’m doing Couch to 5k. I’m through my 3rd week and I think it’s safe to say it’s sticking 🙂 I think I’ll join you guys in July! I have a Vivofit2 (Garmin’s fitbit) I’m going to throw on my wrist and see what kind of steps I get, too. Should be interesting…

Thanks for inspiring me (damn you!) 🙂
