My Week:

IMG_6081I’m STILL on VACATION!! We are finishing up the end of the second week, and my family be heading home (2 day car trip) starting Saturday. I’m happy to report that I’ve been able to mostly keep up some exercise and getting in great step counts, to including walking with my 9 year old girl (BG) in the annual Independence Day 2 mile run. I also did that 5 mile loop with the 450 stair climb in the middle again on Thursday. However, I’ve been eating WAY TOO MUCH, and actually have felt gross because of that. I am looking forward to getting back home and back to normal eating. My fitness week begins on Mondays, so I’ll report my trip weight gains next week, but I do know that I’m already up a few pounds.

My Movement*:
Friday: 43 minutes walking, 11,593 steps/day
Saturday: 36 minutes walking, 14,090 steps/day
Sunday: 37 minutes walking, 10,288 steps/day
Monday: 71 minutes walking, 12,895 steps/day
Tuesday: 44 minutes walking, 11,863 steps/day
Wednesday: no exercise, 5,828 steps/day
Thursday: 90 minutes walking, 15,207 steps/day

* After a comment about my timed walking and the number of steps I record, I realized it might be confusing. I track two different goals. The first goal is a timed duration of exercise – moving with the intent to raise my heart rate and get in some cardiovascular work. This is what I’m mean when I say “45 minutes walking.” The second goal is total daily steps. This is from my Fitbit, which measures all steps from 12:00AM – 11:59PM, exercise included. I hope that clarifies my movement data.

  1. I can’t run. So good for you :D! For me, my knee hurts. I think it’s cos of something that happened to it in my teens, I could not bend it for a month. But walking rocks! And bought new shoes yesterday

    • I used to run, but mostly walk now. I got BG to “jog” for the count of ten and then walk for the count of 20. She did pretty good. We finished 2 miles in about 36 minutes.

  2. I hope you’re enjoying every minute of vacation!! I found I was WAY more active and on my feet while I was on vacation than when I’m at work, now that I’m back. I got a lot more steps in last week. Definitely not getting any activity sitting at a desk all day! 🙁

Vacation is for splurging so enjoy it. 🙂

    • Thanks! I am enjoying it. Can’t believe today is our last day. I’m not looking forward to leaving, but it will be good to get back home. Plus – it’s still summer vacation even after we get home!!

  3. You’re doing a great job on your vacation. I was below 4,000 on every day of mine, but packing in and packing out. Now that I’m back home, I’m getting back to it. I’ve been on the treadmill desk everyday at work. I also plan to do either Daily Burn or ride at least one horse (if it will ever stop raining) at least 6 days per week. So far, I’ve done good, but I’m only on day 4. We will see how it goes. i’m also back to tracking my calories again.

    • We do move quite a bit while here. Daily walks: very slow, but better than nothing. Overall, I’m averaging about 1500 calories over my daily amount every day!

Ah, vacation. I hope you are having a wonderful time. That two-day car trip though… Great job keeping up with your exercise. I need to move this week!

I hope your vacation was great and good for you getting in all those steps!!! I do know how hard it is to resist eating so much while on vacation, though, especially when you’re with family…at least you don’t eat like that all the time! Hope you have a safe trip back home!
