Sign up for OCTOBER!

Welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group during 2015. For the rest of 2015 (October – December), I will be hosting the official check-ins. This is my weekly check-in post where I share about my week, and I hope you share about yours as well. You can also catch Felicia’s weekly check-in HERE.

If you have a weekly check-in blog post or put your updates on any social media site, please leave a link to your check-in posts in the comment section, below. Or, if you want to use this post as your weekly check-in, leave a comment telling us how your week went! (I only use the linky on the monthly commitment posts, for the weekly posts, I use the comments.)

My Week:

After a great week last week, I totally vegged on Friday and Saturday (although I did get my step count in by going through a corn maze with the kiddos). I’m feeling good though because I’ve mostly been eating better.

My Movement*:
Friday: no exercise, 6,809 steps/day
Saturday: walking through corn maze, 12,005 steps/day
Sunday: 39 minutes walking, 10,805 steps/day
Monday: 71 minutes walking, 14,136 steps/day
Tuesday: 30 minutes walking, 13,906 steps/day
Wednesday: 45 minutes walking, 10,127 steps/day
Thursday: 55 minutes Body Flow + 45 minutes walking, 10,000+ steps/day

* I track two different goals. The first goal is a timed duration of exercise – moving with the intent to raise my heart rate and get in some cardiovascular work. This is what I’m mean when I say “45 minutes walking.” The second goal is total daily steps. This is from my Fitbit, which measures all steps from 12:00AM – 11:59PM, exercise included.

    • Good luck Brandie!! I look forward to hearing how the race went when you check in next week! I’m sending some “kick butt” vibes your way!!

  1. Gayle Cochrane

Looks like you got plenty of steps in the corn maze.

I almost feel guilty checking in, as I was summer slacker, but I am checking in anyway. The main thing I have been having success with this summer is reducing snacking, and trying out new vegetarian dishes.

    • Thanks Gayle. That’s what the check-ins are for… To stop by and just touch base, regardless of where you are at. I’m glad you did! Great job on reducing snacking, that’s a big step.

Corn Maze? It must be October. I’ve only focused on strength training and running earlier in the year. I just don’t know how to get 10,000 steps each day. How do you do it?

    • Yes. It’s fall in New England!

I need to do some strength training and I’ve totally be slack. For me, getting in the steps is pretty easy – if I walk. I try to walk 2-4 miles every day. On days I work, I walk around my office for 10 minutes, twice a day and that gives me a few thousand steps, too. With two kids, coaching soccer, leading a troop of Girl Scouts, etc… I stay on my feet a lot.

  3. I’m still struggling with my steps, but I’m still eating well. I’m loosing weight, not as much if I could pick up my exercises. At least now with cutting out the sugar, I’m heading in the right direction. Looks like you got quite a few steps in this week.

    • thanks, it’s a lot of up and down, up and down, but always maintaining. Great job with the community garden – fresh food and exercise!!
