Welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group during 2015. For the rest of 2015 (October – December), I will be hosting the official check-ins. This is my weekly check-in post where I share about my week, and I hope you share about yours as well.

If you have a weekly check-in blog post or put your updates on any social media site, please leave a link to your check-in posts in the comment section, below. Or, if you want to use this post as your weekly check-in, leave a comment telling us how your week went! (I only use the linky on the monthly commitment posts, for the weekly posts, I use the comments.)

My Week:

Not much to report this week. I’ve been participating in several challenges, which have encouraged me to get in more steps, even though I joke that I’ll never win one. I’ve been keeping up a good routine of both mini and long walks, while trying to be conscientious of my eating habits.

One not so great thing happen this week on my walk – I was bit by a dog!! I was in the road, and she came off her property and bit me in the calf. I’m fine – she broke the skin, but through my pants, and the dog’s shots are all current (as are mine!). I’ll have a bruise, and it’s a little sore, but I’m more upset that this happened in my own neighborhood – what if it had been one of the dozen kids that play in the area? What if it had been the elderly woman with Parkinson’s that walks her dog every day? I haven’t been back out in the area since it happened, but I will either later today or over the weekend. I’m a bit worried about it, but not enough that it will stop me from going out.

My Movement*:
Friday: three walks totaling 75 minutes, 14,528 steps/day
Saturday: one walk totaling 57 minutes, 13,137 steps/day
Sunday: 22 active minutes, 10,263 steps/day
Monday: one walk totaling 75 minutes, 16,746 steps/day
Tuesday: three walks totaling 67 minutes, 13,427 steps/day
Wednesday: two walks totaling 49 minutes, 13,156 steps/day
Thursday: 55 minutes Body Flow + one walk totaling 40 minutes, 13,000+ steps/day

* I track two different goals. The first goal is a timed duration of exercise – moving with the intent to raise my heart rate and get in some cardiovascular work. This is what I’m mean when I say “45 minutes walking.” The second goal is total daily steps. This is from my Fitbit, which measures all steps from 12:00AM – 11:59PM, exercise included.

  1. Look at those step counts. I know that mine have been up since I’ve been doing challenges. I keep telling myself that I’ll win one day, but I don’t think it will happen. It does help motivate me, which is the entire point, so it’s all good. Hopefully, the police gave the dog owners a stiff warning so that they keep it locked up.

    • I didn’t see the dog on Saturday or Sunday, so *fingers crossed*. I am skipping the challenges this month – I’ll still work to get in my steps, but I don’t want pressure on the holiday week!

  2. Sorry about the dog bite! That is a scary thing and the owners should totally be held accountable. I am actually taking off my fitbit till the beginning of the year and getting back to logging my exercise. You had amazing totals this week.

I went for a run twice last week but sadly I had no time for yoga. I hope I have more time next week.

So sorry that you got bitten by a dog on your walk.

Oh my goodness I’m glad you are okay. You are right it could have been worse. You had such a great week!

  5. I hate those kind of dogs, like you once I was out walking and two Alsations came over the fence and like you one bit and broke the skin. It leaves you shaky for sure.

But apart from dogs you did good, I don’t participate in challenges but can see how they help. My Week of Walking Check In

Oh that would have been so scary getting bitten. My little Bella got attacked in the dog park this week by a bigger dog … a trip to the vet and antibiotics 🙁
Well done on the awesome step count!

Sorry to read about the dog biting you, that is scary. I used to walk my dog all the time, but so many people to not seem to have control of their pets, that I have become a little timid about it.

    Have a good Thanksgiving.
