My Week:

Well after I went on about what a good week I had last week, I went and had a not-as-good week. LOL I missed my goal step count on two days!! Oh well… I carried on and look, I even made up for it during the rest of the week. The wind, cold, and ice have slowed me down some, but I’m still getting time outside for the most.

I did notice a problem with my FitBit on Tuesday. I thought it was weird that I hadn’t hit 10,000 steps by nighttime, and when I looked, it was at 9,996. I then continued around my house, doing chores, etc. But the counter wouldn’t move. It wasn’t until 5 minutes later, going down stairs, that it hit 10,000. Then it stayed there the rest of the night. Never moved. It also had me “sleeping” from 7:50AM to 11:50PM on Wednesday. What?! I mean, the sleep log showed that I was “restless” pretty much the entire day, but that clearly was a problem with the FitBit. I’ll keep an eye on things – may need to do something about it.

My Movement*:
Friday: one walk totaling 11 minutes, 9,019 steps/day
Saturday: one walk totaling 40 minutes, 11,175 steps/day
Sunday: no exercise, 6,264 steps/day
Monday: one walk totaling 64 minutes, 14,126 steps/day
Tuesday: one walk totaling 11 minutes + 40 minutes elliptical, 10,000 steps/day
Wednesday: three walks totaling 56 minutes, 13,096 steps/day
Thursday: 53 minutes Body Flow + one walk totaling 38 minutes, 10,000+ steps/day

* I track two different goals. The first goal is a timed duration of exercise – moving with the intent to raise my heart rate and get in some cardiovascular work. This is what I’m mean when I say “45 minutes walking.” The second goal is total daily steps. This is from my Fitbit, which measures all steps from 12:00AM – 11:59PM, exercise included.

So are you ready to lace up your sneakers? Are you ready to up your commit to fit? Be sure to stop over at Felicia the Geeky Blogger blog starting January 1, 2016 to continue in 2016!

  1. I wonder if you need to reset your FitBit. That is weird though. I hope you figure that out. I finally got my charger, so I’m back in business. YAY! I did completely forget that yesterday was Thursday. So did Carmel, so we don’t have our post ready. We will be posting either later tonight or tomorrow morning. I had Monday off for MLK. She has been working overtime. Our weeks are all messed up.

Stay warm and here’s to another great week. 🙂

  2. Same thing for me this week – I thought I was doing great, and then I ate kinda poorly and gained a few lbs. I’m pretty mad at myself and determined to get those lbs off now!
That’s weird about your Fitbit. I hope it gets fixed! I found when I switched from the Charge to the Surge, that I don’t get nearly as many steps in a day as I used to. I’m not sure if it’s because one or the other wasn’t accurate? I need to research why. I don’t burn as many calories, either, which is frustrating.

    • My sister told me that she was told GPS devices, like the Surge, have more accurate readings. Not sure if that is true or not. But if it’s registering few steps, then it will correspond to fewer calories burned. However, if you are doing the same as before (not counting this week), then I would say, just readjust your goals, not your workouts.

Excited that I’ll be joining again!! Been still working out…just been too lazy to post and share. LOL

  4. Mine did some wonky stuff this week with double recording sleep or sleep when I was awake and such. Steps were rough this week with the weather we were having. Too cold and icy to go out the last two days even for a quick walk. But I did manage to get my first 5000 step mark earlier in the week. Long way to go but that was fun to hit 🙂

Just curious. On days you don’t exercise but are still getting a good number of steps…what are you doing for that? Is it job related?

    • Congrats! Great job.

In a “normal” day of my job (at a desk), running errands, dealing with kids, and housework, I will get about 4,000-6,000 steps. I guess I’m just all over the place. But back over Thanksgiving, we didn’t move off the couch all day, and I got about 2,000 steps.

That is strange with your FitBit…which one do you have? I find that mine acts a big wonky every once in a while, too – I have the One. I had an off week, too – mine was because I was babysitting my nieces and had a head cold.

I hope your FitBit works properly again. I’ve noticed a few times that it seems like mine wasn’t counting steps when I was walking around my apartment. I charged mine in case that was the issue.

Good job with your steps this week! It is hard to walk when the weather is cold. I look forward to warmer weather when it will be easier to get those steps in!

    • Thanks. I think that is a good idea – when in doubt, charge it!

I’m going to Coastal Magic Con in Dayton in 2 weeks – I look forward to walking on the beach with other #FitReaders!!
