My Week:

This has been a real up and down week for me. Last weekend, I really over consumed – meals, snacks, sweets, and alcohol. It was the culmination of the slide I’d been on since late-January. I binged and felt the effects. It wasn’t pretty. At all. But it woke me up that I needed to get back on track and eat healthier. I don’t need to go without, but small portions and in moderation. Monday – Thursday have been MUCH better, and I FEEL so much better. Why do so many of us always need to “hit bottom” to remind us of that?? Anyhow, I hope to continue with a better, stronger mind-set and attitude going into April.

As for movement – I’m doing pretty good during the weekdays, not as well on the weekends. I don’t know that I’ll get my 10k in this month, but I have completed a number of 5ks. We’ll see what next week brings. Remember that next week is the end of the first quarter, and the official check-ins will be here! Hope you have a great week.

My Movement*:
Friday: two walks totaling 32 minutes, 10,835 steps/day
Saturday: no exercise, 5,966 steps/day
Sunday: no exercise, 3,935 steps/day
Monday: snow shovel for 57 minutes + one walk totaling 45 minutes, 14,722 steps/day
Tuesday: two walks totaling 46 minutes, 10,803 steps/day
Wednesday: one walk totaling 53 minutes, 13,496 steps/day
Thursday: 55 minutes Body Flow + two walks totaling 63 minutes, 13,500+ steps/day

* I track two different goals. The first goal is a timed duration of exercise – moving with the intent to raise my heart rate and get in some cardiovascular work. This is what I’m mean when I say “45 minutes walking.” The second goal is total daily steps. This is from my Fitbit, which measures all steps from 12:00AM – 11:59PM, exercise included.

Don’t forget that starting next week, the official weekly check-ins will be here!

    • The roads are clear here, but my mind hasn’t been in the right place to walk for that long – for me it’s about a 1.5 hour commitment or more… we’ll see.

  1. I’ve been loving the FitBit Challenges. I was also able to start getting my horses out some. I haven’t started riding yet, but I’m starting to clean them up and getting them ready to be ridden, earlier than I thought. Yay!!

We all have weeks were we backslide every now and then. 🙁 You’ll get back on track.

    • Thanks Melanie. I love doing the challenges with you! I know I won’t come in first, but I know you all can see my progress. Feel free to harass me anytime if I’m behind!

One thing about logging with #FitReaders is that is makes me conscious of where I am at, and even if it isn’t where I want to be. I think that consciousness is a good thing. Hopefully you get back to were you want to be, but remember to be kind to yourself in the process.
My only claim to fitness is that 30 minutes of stationary bike I added over a month ago, but when I do 40 minutes I write a star on the calendar. Very old school of me. Writing this I realized I could be logging it on Wii fit or Fitbit.

    • Thanks! and Yes! You can log your workouts into any number of free smartphone apps. I like that the Fitbit HR will auto log my walks if they are over 10 minutes. It does other exercises as well – like it counted my shoveling for me last week!

I haven’t done a 10k yet for this month, but I’ve been sick the last 2 weeks…so while I’ve been getting in my steps, it’s been easy walks and a lot of pacing while watching tv! I tend to go lighter on the weekends – make those my rest days and make my weekdays my workout days.

    • Oh! I hope you are better – that’s a long time to be sick. I try to still get in my 10,000 steps on the weekend, even if it’s a slow walk, but lately, I’ve been a bum!
