Welcome to #FitReaders!! Felicia the Geeky Blogger and I are super excited to be co-hosting this fitness-oriented group! For the remainder of the 2016, I will be hosting the weekly check-ins (October-December).
FYI: I only use the linky signups for the monthly Commit to Exercise posts, so please use the comment section below for your check-in. You can leave a link to your own weekly check-in blog post or any social media site in the comment section. Or if you prefer, use the comment section as your own weekly check-in space.
** Don’t forget to “cross the finish line” each month after you complete your 5k, 10k, or your 1 mile walk. See this month’s link, below. You can always go back and log previous months if you’ve forgotten. **

Last Week (November 14 – November 20, 2016):
Last week was a very tough week. Since I blog a week behind, I’m talking about the week before Thanksgiving. I did try my best, but getting in my exercise and steps didn’t always happen. Plus, there was comfort food involved. Sadly, on Friday November 18, 2016, we said goodbye to Nicky, my 17-year old cat. He was my first baby and a total love. He’s left a big hole in our family. And poor kitty-brother, Oscar (16 yrs), is a bit lost. It was an emotionally draining week, coming to the decision, holding him, saying goodbye. But I am at peace knowing we did what was right and best.

Additionally, on that Thursday, my daughter (10) had some testing at a hospital about 2 hours away. She’s doing fine, she just has a few odd issues here and there, but nothing life threatening. However, this meant, lots of time in the car and sitting at the hospital, which also cut into my routine. But… it’s already another week. As I write this (Monday), I’m preparing for Thanksgiving and my exercise for the week.
The final news of the week is that my gym changed its schedule, and it is no longer offering BodyFlow. I am really bummed by this news. I will have to decide if I want to try a different class or go to a yoga studio. But that goal, which I wasn’t going to meet in November anyhow, is now permanently off the books.
My Movement*:
Monday: one walk totaling 47 minutes, 13,265 steps/day – 5k finished
Tuesday: no exercise, 6,451 steps/day
Wednesday: one walk totaling 21 minutes, 10,778 steps/day
Thursday: no exercise, 7,349 steps/day
Friday: one walk totaling 30 minutes, 10,303 steps/day
Saturday: one walk totaling 46 minutes, 11,545 steps/day – 5k finished
Sunday: one walk totaling 51 minutes, 12,369 steps/day – 5k finished
* I track two different goals. The first goal is a timed duration of exercise – moving with the intent to raise my heart rate and get in some cardiovascular work. This is what I’m mean when I say “45 minutes walking.” The second goal is total daily steps. This is from my Fitbit, which measures all steps from 12:00AM – 11:59PM, exercise included.
November Goals:
How did I do last week?
- Reach 10,000 steps each day – 5/7
- Move with purpose (exercise) at least 30 minutes, 6 days per week – 4/6
- Complete the hourly “red dot” from 8am – 7pm 3 days per week – 4/3
- Track my caloric intake using the LoseIt! app each day – 7/7
- Walk a 5K each week (5 for the month of November) – 5/5 (month)
Attend Body Flow once per week (3 for the month of November) – 0/3 (month)
Don’t forget to stop by next Thursday December 1st for the final month of the year!
How was your week? What were you successes? What were your challenges?
