Each June, audiophiles from around the country celebrate all things audiobook. Since we love to listen and review audiobooks here at That’s What I’m Talking About, we are participating in our own Audiobook celebration.
What would an audiobook be without a narrator? As part of Audiobook Month, we are spotlighting various narrators so you can learn a bit more about who they are and what they do.
Narrator Spotlights!
Today we shine the spotlight on:
Jonathan Johns
Tell us how long have you been narrating books?
Just over 2 years. Time is flying by!
What genres do you cover? Do you have a favorite?
YA, Horror, Mystery Thrillers, Children’s and anything else I can get my hands on. YA is my favourite so far.
Do you do any other voice work or acting?
Yes I am also a voice actor in the spare time I have between audio books.
What is your favorite job to date?
My current project which is Fledgling: Jason Steed. It’s a lot of fun with all the different accents I have to perform!
How do prepare for a job? Does the preparation depend on the genre or type of book?
Usually I ask the author about any character traits that might not be so obvious to the reader. I also ask for character backgrounds to get a better feel for them. Usually authors have pages and pages of character details that only get hinted at in the books or never mentioned. I like to try and incorporate that into the audio book.
If you could narrate any book or work with any author past or present, what would you choose? Why?
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline but only if I could get Royalty Shares on it!
Anything else you’d like to share?
Look out for my up and coming release Fledgling: Jason Steed by Mark A. Cooper!
