What would an audiobook be without a narrator? As part of Audiobook Month, we are spotlighting various narrators so you can learn a bit more about who they are and what they do.

Today we shine the spotlight on:
Ulf Bjorklund
Tell us how long have you been narrating books?
8 years.
What genres do you cover? Do you have a favorite?
Fantasy, Non-fiction (history, memoirs, travel, religious), Mystery, Literature. Favorites are well-written material, no matter what kind.
Do you do any other voice work or acting?
Yes. E-learning and explainer videos and travel guides mostly. Last screen appearance was a few year ago now (Portlandia). No stage work for a long while.
What is your favorite job to date?
“The Song of All” New Fantasy series. Came in out of the blue and was flown out to Brilliance studios!
How do prepare for a job? Does the preparation depend on the genre or type of book?
I have mostly done dead authors : ) I did communicate with Tina LeCount Myers, mostly technical communication as the language was tricky and specific.
I have been fortunate in being able to narrate authors that I am familiar with. In the cases I am not, for fiction I read the entire book, for non-fiction and skim and try to find the ‘spine’ of the story (thank you Sean Pratt).
If you could narrate any book or work with any author past or present, what would you choose? Why?
Charles Williams (one of the Inklings). His genre is unique and has often been labelled ‘spiritual thrillers’ and his writing compelling.
Anything else you’d like to share?
My latest book was about a year in a life of a Norwegian carpenter. That was fun. Other than that, it has been a lot quieter than I would prefer.
