Audiobook review: Melt for Him
Author: Lauren Blakely
Narrators: Joe Arden, Erin Mallon
Audio Speed: 1.0x
Series: Fighting Fire #2
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Melt for Him is the second book in the Fighting Fire series, and I’m sure the two main characters (or at least one of them) was at least mentioned in the first book, Burn for Me.
Melt for Him reads like a fast-paced novella so there’s instant-lust involved. Becker and Megan met one night when she left out the back of his bar to get away from the crowd and five minutes later they are back at his place having scream-inducing sex. They both have relationship issues. She because of her ex who became an addict, him because he doesn’t think any woman should be tied to him.
Melt for Him is a romance where the hero is secretly seeing his best friend’s sister after he said he would stay away. I’ve read this trope many times and almost always enjoy it. While Melt for Him was an enjoyable enough listen, I’m usually way more excited about the couples in a Blakely title. I wasn’t invested in Megan and Becker’s HEA.
Melt for Him is told through changing POVs with Joe narrating Becker’s POV and Erin narrating Megan’s POV. Erin Mallon is quickly becoming a favorite narrator in the Contemporary Romance genre. I actually preferred her male voice to Joe’s voice. I wish the whole book had been narrated by Erin. I found her voice for Becker sexier than Joe’s. Not sure what that says about me but it says that Erin does a great job with male voices! Joe Arden is still fairly new to me and he is growing on me. He does a good job with Becker’s POV chapters, and I would probably would liked his performance more if it was just him narrating but next to Erin’s work on the title I have to say she was my favorite of the two.

About the Book:
He knows exactly how to make her burn…
Fire captain and bar owner Becker Thomas usually spends his nights alone, trying to escape painful memories from his past. When he meets a sexy, free-spirited brunette outside his bar, he knows he’s found the perfect way to forget for one night. But when he later discovers the woman he’s itching for another night with is his best friend’s sister, everything comes to a halt.
Just out of a toxic relationship, Megan Jansen is only in Hidden Oaks to visit her brother, photograph the firemen’s calendar, and then slip off to another adventure. The brooding man who gave her the best sex ever is an unexpected surprise. The problem is, he’s her brother’s friend and a fellow fireman, and Megan’s rule is no firemen. She knows she’s going to get burned …but keeping their hands off each other is easier said than done.
