What I’m Talking About:

There’s just something about a small lake town romance to put you in the mood for summer reading, even if the story is set at the end of the summer season for the characters.

In keeping with the style of Cooper’s Charm the first book the  Summer Resort series, Sisters of Summer’s End is set in an RV park within a small town. Both novels also have a main romance with a secondary romance.

The main couple is Joy and Royce. Joy is a single mother who left her family about 6 years ago because they gave her the choice to leave her bum of a husband and not have their child or stay and keep living the rich life with them. For Joy, there was no choice to be made. She left her family behind to have and raise her son Jack.

Royce comes to the small town after losing his mother. He gave up his personal life for the last few years to take care of his mother who had dementia. Royce bought the drive-in theater and a fixer-upper house in hopes of settling down and reclaiming his life without any entanglements.

Joy lives for Jack, so she is a mom first, but she’s been lonely and when she meets Royce she starts having feelings. They have chemistry that won’t be denied. Trying to work out a time to be together for sexy times is hard because Joy never uses a babysitter for Jack. That’s where the other budding couple comes in.

Maris and Daron have been circling each other for a few years. Well, Daron more so since Maris won’t give in to him. She has an issue with him being six years younger than her, and because of the age difference, she is convinced he’s a frat boy jumping from woman to woman.

Daron surprises Maris by how mature he really is. He’s always laughing and joking around, but he’s more settled into adulthood than she is.

Maris and Joy go from friendly acquaintances to best friends to sisters over the span of the story. They help each other out with their man issues and pep talk each other into letting the guys into their lives and eventually into their hearts.

Daron and Royce both have their work cut out for them with strong and stubborn women. It’s sweet, funny and sexy to see these two couples get their HEA by the end of Sisters of Summer’s End.

If you’re in the mood for a romance with a single mom, great kiddo, sexy as sin newcomer with a side of a secondary romance between two fun side characters you should try Sisters of Summer’s End by Lori Foster. You won’t have to read the first book, Cooper’s Charm, to enjoy, but why not try both!  I look for to the next installment in the Summer Resort series.

About the Book:

As the summer ends, friendship begins…When single mom Joy Lee abandoned her old life to take a job at a lakeside resort, she found something that her family’s wealth and influence could never buy: peace of mind. Not easy to come by for the once-burned divorce who keeps everyone at a distance. But when her new friend, Maris, dares her to take a chance with the drive-in’s charismatic new owner, everything changes for Joy and her young son. A difficult childhood has left Maris Kennedy with definite priorities. Her job running Summer’s End, the camp store and cafe, comes first. Always. Nothing could ever make her risk that hard-won security–especially not her free-spirited colleague. But the more she encourages Joy to open herself up to new experiences, the more Maris begins to wonder what she, too, might be missing. Learning how to trust will bring Joy and Maris together.

And soon they form a friendship that leaves them as close as sisters–and open to love where they least expect it…in Summer’s End.
