The Start of Something Good

What I’m Talking About:
I always enjoy a Jennifer Probst novel, so starting her new Stay series was a no brainer for me. The Start of Something Good is a romance between a down to earth guy Ethan, and a city girl Mia.
Ethan is back home in the small town in the Hudson Valley after an injury making him unfit for active duty. When he and Mia first see each other she is lost on her way to find his family’s B&B in the country, and she thinks he is an unruly, bearded, backwoods guy. He thinks she’s a spoiled princess.
Mia is at the B&B to play guardian to her boss’s daughter who is on court ordered probation for the summer. She is way out of her comfort zone, and it only gets worse when an attraction to Ethan blooms.
Watching Mia and Ethan get their act together and make a go at an HEA was sexy, sweet, and fun. The Start of Something Good was a good start to the Stay series, and I loved the quirky secondary characters, which included Ethan’s sisters and some funny pets like a dog and a chicken named Hei Hei (yes, like the chicken in Moana, in fact all the animals are named after Disney characters).
My Rating: B, Liked it

About the Book:
When Ethan Bishop returns to the Hudson Valley, his body and spirit are a little worse for wear. As a former Special Forces paratrooper, he saw his fair share of conflict, and he came home with wounds, inside and out. At his sisters’ B & B and farm, he can keep all his pain at a safe distance. But quiet time isn’t easy when a fiery woman explodes into his life…
It’s business—not pleasure—that brings Manhattan PR agent Mia Thrush reluctantly to the farm. Tightly wound and quick tempered, Mia clashes immediately with the brooding Ethan. Everything about him is irritating—from his lean muscles and piercing blue eyes to his scent of sweat and musk.
But as the summer unfolds and temperatures rise, Ethan and Mia discover how much they have in common: their guarded histories, an uncontrollable desire, and a passion for the future that could heal two broken hearts. But will their pasts threaten their fragile chance at a brand-new future?
