After reading Linda’s (Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell) TMST posts this past year, I decided to join in the fun!

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings where bloggers discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog. January 21, 2020: Do you read/listen to more than one book at a time?

YES! Ever since I started listening to audiobooks (circa 2014), I always have two books going simultaneously: one audiobook and one e-/print book. Due to the difference in media types, my brain is able to keep the different stories separate and intact – mostly. I have had confusion issues (rarely) if I am listening to and reading books in the same genre that share similar features. But typically, it’s two different genres. For example, as I write this, I am listening to Stormed Cursed by Patricia Briggs (urban fantasy, second listen) and reading Xeni by Rebekah Weatherspoon (contemporary romance).

I also tend to separate the spaces I listen to and read books – making it easier to keep the stories distinct. I am apt to listen to books when I’m driving in the car, going for walks, and doing household chores. I read on the couch, in bed, sitting in waiting rooms, and sometime in the car when I’m a passenger on longer trips. I think these reading patterns and habits helps my brain stay organized a bit better.
