From the Author:

In honor of the release of my new fantasy romance series, OPAL CONTAGION, I have included an [exclusive] interview with the sassy, smart, thief-turned-spy heroine, Liss. I hope you enjoy!

Character Interview:

Q: What’s your last name?

A: My people, the Extended, don’t bother with surnames. Who has time for them? Life’s busy enough.

Q: What’s your greatest joy?

A: Hanging out with the three kids on my thieving crew…and sweets! The more sugar, the better.

Q: What’s your greatest fear?

A: Falling in love. My heart will never belong to anyone except myself.

Q: What’s your favorite food?

A: Sugar! Wait, that isn’t a real food? Okay, then. Cake. Specifically, Lagonia’s golden cake…made with real gold, of course.

Q: What makes you special?

A: I’m a Soul Sorter, which means that I can sense any emotion a person is feeling.

Q: What have you learned about people from being a Soul Sorter?

A: Everyone lies.

Q: What is the trait you value most in others?

A: Humor, and not taking yourself too seriously.

Q: What is the trait you hate most in other?

A: Complaining. If something’s bothering you, then do something to fix it.

Q: What’s your motto?

A: Worry about today’s problems now and tomorrow’s problems later.

Q: Tell us about your…er…profession.

A: I steal so my people can survive. And I’d be lying if I didn’t say I enjoy taking the smug-faced Lagonians’ dragonhide wallets and jewels right out of their pockets. They’re the reason why my people are on the run. The Lagonians have stolen our ability to fend for ourselves. The way I see it, I’m just returning the favor.

Q: What’s your greatest strength?

A: Being able to adapt to the unexpected.

Q: Greatest weakness?

A: I’m impulsive and impatient. I’d say I’m trying to stop, but well…I’m a thief. Making split-second decisions comes with the job description.

Q: If you were going to fall in love (even though we know you never will), what qualities would you want in a man?

A: Courage, honor, and kindness. And we all know that’s never going to happen.

About the book:

Series: Opal Contagion
Book: Opal Smoke (#1 in the series)
Subgenre: Fantasy Romance
Content note: Very mild language and sex. Moderate violence.

A thief is the only one who stands between her people and complete annihilation.

Liss is a Soul Sorter who can sense any emotion a person is feeling. She uses this talent to steal jewels and dragonhide wallets to help provide for her people, the Extended. A side benefit of her thieving is that she gets to empty the pockets of the wealthy Lagonians, who shun the Extended for the deadly disease that runs in their veins.

When the Lagonians announce that they’ve developed a source of immunity, they are no longer content to just ostracize the Extended. The Lagonians plan to eradicate them.

The only way for Liss to save her people is if she can pull off her biggest heist yet and steal the secret to the immunity.

What is already a perilous mission is further complicated when Lagonia’s infamous Chief Assassin is tasked with taking Liss out. Entangled in his own web of deception, risk, and a fight to survive, the assassin cannot fail. One truth becomes clear. If either hopes to succeed, the other must die.
