February 9: How has your reading changed since the pandemic started?
During 2020, like many, my life and routine were interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. I started working from home (and continue to do so), which meant no commute time, which is one of the times I listened to audiobooks. I also started walking more with a neighbor, which meant no more listening while on my walks. These two things along nearly stopped my audiobook reads.
Additionally, I found that since I wasn’t out and about as much, I craved more time with people, whether via social media or hanging out with my daughter playing games and watching TV. This cut back on my ebook reading time. But also my mood… I just couldn’t get into books. It was taking me weeks to read one book. So yes, that impacted my reading.
With that said, I’ve been back to a more “normal” reading pace in 2021. In January I finished eleven books/audiobooks. Not quite as many as a year ago, but many more than during the height of COVID.
