March 2: What are your favorite tips and/or tools to help keep your blogging (or real life) organized?
I am a very organized person in my core, so I do lots of things both blogging and beyond to keep my day and life running smoothly. Here I’ll focus on the tools I use for blogging/reviewing.
My two biggest blogging tools are a calendar and a spreadsheet. The calendar keeps track of which posts are on which days. It’s a quick visual to show me if a day has a post (or more than one post). It helps me make sure I have coverage. The spreadsheet is used to list upcoming titles I want to read, and once I request or purchase the title, I add a review date (that coordinates with the calendar). I also keep track of the source of the book, who I contact regarding the review, the date the book was read, if the review has been written, if I’ve posted the review, etc.
I also use a note app on my phone/laptop to keep my TBR lists (one for print/ebook and one for audiobooks). When I start each book, I create a separate note file with the book info, and then I use it to keep detailed notes on the plot (and narration) and my thoughts, etc. When I finish the book, I try to put final thoughts and a rating. These notes are the basis for my review.
