August 10th: Tell us about the best summer job you’ve had.
Hmmmm… I think it’s a tie between two jobs. The summer after my senior year in high school, I was a lifeguard at a golf/swim club in town. In the mornings I helped coach the little kids’ swim team and in the afternoons, watched the swimmers/pool. The pool would close early – maybe 6:00 or 7:00 PM, and then I could swim with friends after.
The other great summer job I had was doing beach survey work when I was in college. I worked for a professor who was hired to study the erosion of a beach on Lake Michigan. We’d go for a few days each month and survey the beach. The second summer we also did work up on Lake Superior, and I got to stay up there for two weeks. Lots of fun in the sun!
