Lisa Kessler

Today I’m happy to welcome romance author Lisa Kessler to the blog. She’s answering a few questions and telling us more about her upcoming release. Please help me welcome Lisa!

Featured Author Q and A:

What is your newest/upcoming release? Tell us about the book and series.

Sedona Sanctuary features General Miller Sloan, yes a werewolf general! Anyway, he’s retired now and trying to save shifters from being exposed to the human world as monsters. He meets a newly retired FBI profiler who is currently chasing after inner peace. Together they not only hunt down a killer, but finally find sanctuary in each other’s arms.

This book has been 16 books in the making! LOL We first meet Miller Sloan in Moonlight and he’s been a side character ever since, but he’s finally stepping into the spotlight. My first silver fox hero! The book reveals SO MANY SECRETS! I had a blast writing it and hope you’ll all enjoy all the twists and turns. This is Book #8 of the Sedona Pack, but I do write the books to stand alone so you don’t have to go all the way back to the beginning. (I always secretly hope it’ll entice you to read all the wolf pack books though! LOL)

Coastal Magic Featured Author Lisa Kessler, author head shotWhat is your favorite thing about the Coastal Magic Convention?

My favorite part of Coastal Magic is the “family” feel. It’s small enough that all the readers and authors know each other and it makes it extra special, like a book family reunion! The panels are always unique and fun too.

What inspired you to write your first book? Or What inspires you to write your current book/series?

I swear this is all true, but I was in New Orleans for a tradeshow for work, and while I was out site-seeing, I decided to get a palm reading. The reader was great and on the way out, she stopped me and asked if I was a writer.

I told her no, and that I sold window shades, but I did enjoy writing for fun at night. She smiled and said, “You’re going to be a famous writer someday.”

I left in a fog. I loved reading, but I didn’t think I could write anything long enough to be a book. I was wrong! LOL One she planted that seed, I couldn’t stop thinking about it and six months later the first draft of Night Walker was finished! It was published in 2011, and I’ve written 40 more books since! She seriously changed my life. I’m not sure I ever would have tried to write a novel if she hadn’t given me that nudge.

Do you use real or fictional locations in your stories? What kind of research do you do for the setting?

I’ve done both fictional and real setting for my series. I love traveling to the cities where I set my series. I get so many book ideas from ghost tours and just meeting and talking to them during my book research adventures. It’s one of my favorite parts of being a writer.

CMCon Quickies:

Coffee or Tea? Tea
Beach or Pool? Beach
Mermaids: real or fictional? I’m keeping an open mind!
Cozies or police procedurals? Police procedurals
Cats, dogs, pigs, or other? Cats dogs and horses and unicorns! 😊

THANKS so much for playing along, Lisa! Now let’s learn more about her upcoming title:

Sedona Sanctuary

Book Cover of Sedona Sanctuary by Lisa KesslerMiller Sloan may not be an active duty general anymore, but he still has one final mission to complete. If he succeeds, the top secret government research on shifters will remain classified. Failure is not an option. He’s lost too much along the way to give up now. But without a pack, or a mate, or family at his side, his iron will is starting to falter.

Rayne Lowry has always been a free spirit at heart, but never more free than today. After accepting her early retirement package from the FBI, she’s now on an extended vacation to plan the next chapter of her life, and what better place for self-reflection than Sedona, Arizona?

Her plans did not include a chance encounter with a silver fox who is hiding something. Her years as an FBI profiler make his secrets irresistible, but it’s the deep well of regret in his eyes that lure her in. When she’s called to consult on one last case, Miller is a potential suspect, and she’s left wondering if she’s falling in love with the enemy, or have they both finally found sanctuary…
