Sabine hold Rydstrom hostage and torments him sexually in order to win him over but that would be too easy. Tables are turned and Ryd gets in some torment of his own.

Audiobook review: Untouchable by Kresley Cole

The timeline of Untouchable spans between the other Wroth brothers’ stories, The Warlord Wants Forever #0.5, No Rest for the Wicked #2 and Dark Needs at Night’s Edge #4. We’ve seen the other Wroth brothers get their HEA and their brides; now it’s Murdoch’s turn.

Throughout the aforementioned books you get glimpses of Murdoch and he’s had a few mysterious things happen. Finally we get to see where he runs off to and who he’s been talking to. It was hinted at that Murdoch knew who his bride was and now we see that was his biggest secret.

Murdoch met his bride the night that Nikolai finally caught up with Myst and he’s been blooded ever since. Murdoch’s bride (like his brother Nikolai) is a Valkyrie, but not just any Valkyrie, Daniela is half Valkyrie and half Icere. Her Icere part needs the cold which is hard to get living in NOLA.

Dani must stay cool or she gets very sick and she has another problem. She can’t be touched. Her skin is cold to everyone and everyone’s skin is too hot for Dani. Really, Kresley Cole comes up with the most entertaining ways to make her immortals virgin. Poor Dani is 2,000 years old and she has not been kissed much less gotten down and dirty with anyone.

Murdoch is known within the Lore (supe world) as the “man whore” of the Wroth brothers from womanizing day when he was a human. But once he was turned into a vampire he has not touched a woman (Vampires have no sexual drive until they are “blooded” by their brides. By “blooded” that means they get an erection, their hearts beat and they breathe once again.)

So we have a couple that is very sexually frustrated. They want more than anything to be able to touch but with Dani’s skin condition it’s not possible. But they find some interesting and steamy ways around it.

The narration of Untouchable by Robert Petkoff is just as engaging as his work on the other books in the IAD series. I’ve really grown to love his voices for the characters in Cole’s world and can’t bring myself to read the books. I must have them on audio. Cole and Petkoff are a winning team in the PNR genre and if you are looking for fun and hot series to sink your teeth into you should give the IAD series a try and I highly recommend it on audio.

Audiobook review: Pleasure of a Dark Prince by Kresley Cole

I love how Cole writes this series. The first few books progress in time and then the books start to go back in time where the plot is running parallel to the earlier books so we see what everyone else is doing at the same time as previous couples. Cole gives us clues in books to future couples and plot lines, and now those little dots to Lucia and Garreth that she gave us at the end of A Hunger Like No Other are finally connected in Pleasure of a Dark Prince.

The story happens around the middle of A Hunger Like No Other, which is the first full length novel in the series. Garreth MacRieve is the lycan brother to the hero in Hunger, Lachlain. Garreth has the task of being the King of the Lykae Clan since it is believed that Lachalin is dead, but Garreth will not give up hope on his brother’s return.

So far it seems that the Valkyrie have a thing for vampires and lykae (werewolves) and Lucia the Huntress is no exception. Really who wouldn’t want a hot Scottish werewolf? Ok if you were sworn not to have sex so that you keep your archery skills then you might try to fight the sexual attraction. But it would be hard.

Lucia has said no to the pleasures of the flesh for centuries. No she’s not a virgin but only barely. That one time with her evil husband was enough to turn her off of men until she meets Garreth. He has her thinking twice about her vow of celibacy. Garreth can’t understand why Lucia won’t give into their lust for each other but because she is his mate he is willing to give her time. But even he can only hold out for so long. He even goes as far as seeking help from his cousin’s mate who is a witch. If you’ve read the series you will remember her from Wicked Deeds on a Winter’s Night.

I really like that Lucia and Garreth have to overcome many obstacles and time to finally get their HEA. It’s not an instant-a-love story which comes regularly in the genre.

I don’t know which I gush over more, Cole’s writing or the narration job done by Robert Petkoff. I’d like to think I would enjoy the books just as much as if I read them but Petkoff brings so much life to the characters that I can’t bring myself to experience the books any other way but on audio. He does the female character justice and his accents for the male characters are just panty dropping good! Cole and Petkoff are the gold standard for the paranormal romance genre, really other PNR audio books wish they could be this awesome.

My Rating: B+
Narration: A+

About the Book:

A Dangerous Beauty… Lucia the Huntress: as mysterious as she is exquisite, she harbors secrets that threaten to destroy her – and those she loves.

An Uncontrollable Need… Garreth MacRieve, Prince of the Lykae: the brutal Highland warrior who burns to finally claim this maddeningly sensual creature as his own.

That Lead to a Pleasure so Wicked… From the shadows, Garreth has long watched over Lucia. Now, the only way to keep the proud huntress safe from harm is to convince her to accept him as her guardian. To do this, Garreth will ruthlessly exploit Lucia’s greatest weakness – her wanton desire for him.

Audiobook review: Demon From the Dark by Kresley Cole

I love how Cole weaves the plot lines of all the characters in her Immortals After Dark series.

Really, you need an org chart to keep up with how the stories intersect. It’s almost like Cole is telling one story from different POVs. Most of the plots of the books are happening parallel to each other, and I love that you get to learn some details about past characters and teases on up coming characters.

Before I get into Aidan and Regin let me give a shout out to Nix! She is not the best character of the series?! She’s so crazy and she puts all the other characters through hell. LOL And now Nix has a pet bat. Well, why not.

FINALLY Regin gets her HEA! After Nix, Regin is my favorite Valkyrie. And after listening to Dreams of a Dark Warrior I love her even more. Regin has had a real crappy love life. She finds her mate only to lose him over and over. After so much heartache, a person can only take so much before they say screw it and give up. But not Regin, she keeps hoping that one day she will get to keep her man.

Chase is the present day Aidan. And quite possibly the darkest version of Aidan to date. All the things he does to the people of the Lore and to Regin, it’s hard to love him, but Cole really developed a great character with all kinds of shades of gray. Chase is not your clean-cut good or evil character. Sure he can be a heartless bastard when it comes to hunting down Lore folk but when he meets Regin he starts to see the error of his ways.

I really enjoyed seeing Regin and Chase work through their issues. Their story had it all; sweetness, smoking attraction, snarky on liners, betrayal, loyalty, and romance. It was definitely an emotional roller coaster.

Fave Quote:

“I finally understand what a dickie do is. Your gut does stick out more than your dickie do.”

I’ve gone on and on about how awesome Robert Petkoff narration of this series is. How about you take a listen for yourself! Seriously Petkoff never fails to bring Cole’s world and characters to life in an outstanding way!
