July 19th: Tell us about a book that made you cry
Hmm… there have been several, but the two that stand out clearly in my mind are these:
The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I read this book circa 2008 and I started crying about a quarter of the way into the book. I knew how it would eventually end and couldn’t stop crying as Henry and Clare grew closer. I freakin’ sobbed for the last quarter of the book. While the concept is amazingly cool, I hated this book because of the ending. It made me so upset and I cried for days after finishing it.
Seduced by the Storm by Sydney Croft. I read this one in 2012. I remember exactly where I was when I got to one of the most powerful scenes I’ve ever read. There was a side story that had been building for two books and hit such a huge high point in this third book. And then bottomed out completely. I was on the stationary bike at the gym and completely lost it – trying to hide the fact that I was bawling. While it was a very sad moment, overall, the story was amazing and one of my all-time favorites.
