What I’m Talking About:

Have you ever bitten into the PERFECT Christmas cookie? One with the perfect bite? Not too hard or soft, just the right amount of sweet and spice, a cookie that makes you sigh and say “yes this is Christmas.” That is what Once Upon a December is, it is the perfect bite of Christmas. It’s your favorite Hallmark movie with just a touch more spice. It has all the magic you’re looking for in a holiday read with just enough twists and turns to keep you guessing.

Astra and Jack have amazing chemistry and just enough issues to work through that they aren’t boring.

Yes, Once Upon a December has your usual Hallmark issues, healing, moving on, family and friend issues, have we met before moments, but it adds time travel, magic, and a man that can bake to spice things right up.

Seriously, it is exactly what I imagine a cherry and almond paste Kringle with a cinnamon cream cheese glaze would taste and smell like, which I realize means nothing to you because you haven’t read the book, but trust me it is DIVINE and you’ll want one.

I could keep gushing, but I’m sure I’d spoil something, so take my word for it grab a glass of your favorite holiday drink, a plate of baked treats, a cozy blanket, and settle in with a copy of Once Upon a December. It’s exactly what Santa ordered and once you’re done, slide a copy into the stocking of someone you love.

My Rating: A Loved It

About the Book:

With a name like Astra Noel Snow, holiday spirit isn’t just a seasonal specialty—it’s a way of life. But after a stinging divorce, Astra’s yearly trip to the Milwaukee Christmas market takes on a whole new meaning. She’s ready to eat, drink, and be merry, especially with the handsome stranger who saves the best kringle for her at his family bakery.

For Jack Clausen, the Julemarked with its snowy lights and charming shops stays the same, while the world outside the joyful street changes, magically leaping from one December to the next every four weeks. He’s never minded living this charmed existence until Astra shows him the life he’s been missing outside of the festive red brick alley.

After a swoon-worthy series of dates, some Yuletide magic, and the unexpected glow of new love, Astra and Jack must decide whether this relationship can weather all seasons, or if what they’re feeling is as ephemeral as marshmallows in a mug of hot cocoa.
