January 10th: Do you read classics? Why or why not?

In short, nope! While I’ve always been a voracious reader, I’ve always found classic literature “boring.” I know that’s an unfair generalization, but I hated reading books like The Red Pony by John Steinbeck, Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, and Ethan Frome by Edith Warton in school. I was always more interested in speculative fiction, even as a child, with my favorite books having a touch of fantasy. I’m certain I’d enjoy some of those works (looks at Pride and Prejudice) now, but my TBR pile is so huge, I just can’t find my way to reading any of them.
