February 7th: Would you read a book by your favorite author if it isn’t in a genre you normally enjoy?
YES! and NO! LOL. I have followed favorite authors into new (to them) genres. Since I have few genres I don’t read, normally it’s not an issue. For example, I followed Nalini Singh from paranormal romance to contemporary romance (at the time I didn’t read a lot of contemporary). However, I did not pick up her thriller-genre titles because that is one genre I just don’t enjoy. When Darynda Jones went from urban fantasy to mystery/thriller, I did try it and loved it. Those books were more lighthearted and filled with humor, so I didn’t mind the “thriller” aspect.
If it’s a favorite author and they try something new, I’ll generally give it a look.
