I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.
Last Week (February 27 – March 5, 2023):

Family Vacation Week! My daughter had school vacation and we took our annual trip to Ft. Myers to visit both sets of grandparents. This was the first time without my son, who is away in college and doesn’t have break until mid-March. Monday (Feb. 27) was my birthday, and my in-laws came over to my parents home for a celebration. It was mid-80s and sunny everyday. Usually Mom and I would walk in the morning before it got too hot, then I’d read by the pool with my daughter. Later in the week, my good friend and her family that live about an hour from my folks, came for some pizza and laughs. I indulged in snacks and had a glass or wine or two each day. We had to cut our trip short by a half day to avoid bad weather at home. My daughter and I relaxed on Saturday (snowing) and then buckled down Sunday to prepare for this week.
Weight: My two-week gain was only 0.8 pounds, but I had put on a couple pounds before I went on vacation. I’m still about five pounds more than I’d like to be.
Goals: I was able to walk and close all my rings each day. I ate/drank more than I should, but less than the week prior. I rested lots!

Goals for February/March:
- Use the breathe mediation app on my watch daily. – 0/7 days
- Close all three “rings” in Apple Watch, 5 days per week. – 7/5 days
- Move with purpose (exercise) at least 30 minutes, 5 days per week. – 7/5 days
- Be under my DAILY caloric intake maximum on at least 2 days. – 1/2 days
- Be no more than 750 calories over my total calorie consumption goal each week. – no (+3,984 cals)
- Limit alcohol intake to 2 days per week (for a total of 4 servings per week). – 4 days (7 servings)
My overall goals for 2023 are:
- To maintain a healthy weight and not exceed my January 1st weight. I will do with through healthy eating and exercise. I don’t have to be perfect, but I do need to make a true effort.
- To add yoga and add meditation to my weekly routine. I will do this with the Peloton app, with a goal of yoga at least one time per week. I will do this with the Apple Watch Breathe app, with a goal of a short breathing meditation every day.
- To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
