April 11th: How long do you stick with a series you loved, if you start not enjoying the books?

It’s tough to say, but generally, I’ll read a couple of books I don’t love before giving up a series that I’m actively reading. I think back to Sherrilyn Kenyon’s books… I really loved them, but the mythology just got so big and unruly, that I started not enjoying the books.

But that’s not usually the case. Sometimes an author does something to the plot/character/world that I find so disagreeable, I stop the series. Black Dagger Brotherhood is a good example, however, I already had issues with the series before the final straw, so to speak. The Dresden Chronicles is another example, however, I may go back to that series because it really is such a good one.

And then there are the series that I genuinely like, but seem to lose track of and will miss a release. Then one day, I’ll realize that I’ve missed a few and don’t have the energy to go back to reading them.
