June 13th: What’s most important in a book for you: the plot, the characters, or the writing style?

YES?! Is that an acceptable answer?

The best books are those with amazing writing (descriptive, original), a well-developed, engrossing storyline that doesn’t lose focus and wander, and characters I care about that are engaging and relatable on some level. If any one of those aspects is weak, it can ruin the entire book. I’ve read books with great characters and a plot that sounded amazing, but the execution fell flat and I lost interest. I’ve loved characters in a book, but hated the plot and therefore the book.

So, it’s a copout, but I really have to say all three aspects are equally important for me.
