I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.
Last Week (August 21 – August 27, 2023):
Last week was filled with a lot of great times, most of which centered on food. Monday we had a neighborhood barbecue and celebrated our boys’ birthdays (four boys with bdays all in the next month) and their return to college. Tuesday was my 25th wedding anniversary and our family went out for Mexican with my son’s girlfriend and her mom before she goes back to college. Wednesday I went out to breakfast with my bestie. Thursday I met up with a mom group for cocktails (I at least ate dinner before I went out). Friday, my husband and I celebrated our anniversary with an evening out seeing one of our favorite bands from when we first met (Smashing Pumpkins). On Saturday, my in-laws took the whole family out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Then on Sunday my daughter and I went with my neighbor to take her just-moved-into-her-dorm freshman some of her stuff and took her to Target and lunch. It was a busy week. I was still able to exercise, but I did eat a lot of extra calories, and it showed on the scale.
Weight: I was up 2.2 pounds for the week, and I weigh the most I have all year.
Goals: UGH. That’s all I got. It seems that I can never eat/drink more than a minimum number of calories or I just gain, gain, gain.

Goals for August:
- Stretch for 10 minutes 5 days per week. – 3/5 days
- Close all three “rings” in Apple Watch, 5 days per week. – 7/5 days
- Move with purpose (exercise) at least 30 minutes, 5 days per week. – 6/5 days
- Be under my DAILY caloric intake maximum on at least 3 days. – 1/3 days
- Be no more than 500 calories over my total calorie consumption goal each week. – No (+3,061 cals)
- Limit alcohol intake to 2 days per week (for a total of 4 servings per week). – 4 days (7 servings)
My overall goals for 2023 are:
- To maintain a healthy weight and not exceed my January 1st weight. I will do with through healthy eating and exercise. I don’t have to be perfect, but I do need to make a true effort.
- To add yoga and add meditation to my weekly routine. I will do this with the Peloton app, with a goal of yoga at least one time per week. I will do this with the Apple Watch Breathe app, with a goal of a short breathing meditation every day.
- To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
